Does anyone use Shutterfly?

Has anyone ever used Shutterfly to create a photo album? Someone gave my H and I gift certificates for Shutterfly, and we're using it to make our wedding album. I'm probably placing the order today, so I wanted to see if anyone had good or bad experiences with it.

I have a completed engagement album sitting on the site waiting to order it.  Creating the album was really fun. My sister has used it for many vacation photo books and loves it!

  • I've done several, and they've all turned out great!
  • FI makes calendars for his family every year for Christmas using shutterfly.  It's really easy, and they make it fun to personalize each page - I imagine a photo album would be the same!
  • I made a guestbook and a book for my sister once. I always enjoy making them and they have always turned out really nicely.

  • I did my wedding album, the parent albums and one for dh's grandparents in shutterfly. They came out fantastic! I also did them during the summer during a 50% off entire order sales. Those can be very useful. Just ordered some ornaments with wedding photos and have done desktop plaques for father's day through shutterfly.

That said I dont recommend them for canvas prints. I got mine refunded- they looked cheap and terrible. My brother used fabness for canvas prints so that is who we are using now.
  • We made our guestbook on Shutterfly and it turned out awesome!
  • We made our wedding photo book and two parent books on Shutterfly and they look amazing. We didn't do any of the upgrades for fancier covers or lay flat pages, and we still could not be happier. The base book (we just added extra pages) are great quality and everyone loved them. We did the 12x12 ones during a great sale, plus they let us stack free shipping and other discounts on top of the sale.

In fact, we have a coupon for a free smaller photo book from them that we are using to make a honeymoon album. We plan to use them for any kind of photo albums in the future as well.
  • I've made several from our wedding and other vacations.  I love them.  We've only had 1 with a problem - there was a streak of ink down 1 page.  We e-mailed and sent in a photo and had a new book shipped out that day.  They have been fantastic.  I always wait for the 50% off sales though, cos our vacation books tend to be as long as you can make them, so pretty expensive.

  • I use them all the time!!!

I used them for our wedding album, guest book, honeymoon books and smaller albums for the parents.

I will say that the lay flat pages are worth the upgrade if you haven't placed the order yet.  The pages are heavier and it gives the whole book a more professional look.  For something as special as a wedding album it is worth it.  I did the lay flat for our book and the parent books, but the regular pages for the other stuff we have done.

I also used them for a framed print when they were doing a 50% off sale.  They don't have a big selection of frames or mats, but it was a lot cheaper than going to a custom framing shop.

  • I'm probably their biggest customer.

All of my prints, calendars, photobooks, anything comes from there.
  • I love Shutterfly!  I make stuff on there all the time.  Just this year I made my FI a metal print of us and the kids and a calendar.  I made the kids a photo album of our first year together.  I made his parents a glass print and his brother a wooden block print.

  • I did our engagement photo album with Shutterfly and it turned out really cute. FI loved it when I surprised him with it. I'm planning to do our wedding album with Shutterfly too.

  • I tried to use Shutterfly for parent prints, but our wedding images are in these "special photographer" sizes. When the "proof" picture was displayed, the picture had white bars across the top and bottom because the picture size is different than the size Shutterfly offers. It was disappointing, but neither the photographers or Shutterflys fault. We decided against using them.

  • My dad gave me an album of pictures from my childhood for christmas last year. It's really nice. For cyber weekend I had three wedding photos put into glass block frames for each parent as their wedding/christmas gifts. We'll see how they turn out!
  • I'm glad everyone seems to like Shutterfly! I spent a long time putting the album together, and then got nervous right before I clicked order. Now if I could just find that damn gift card... ugh.
  • We used Shutterfly for our wedding guest book, wedding album, and wedding albums for both sets of parents. And they all turned out great. We upgraded to the lay-flat pages for our guest book & wedding album, but did regular pages for parent albums.  I agree that for a more formal book, like a wedding album, the lay-flat pages are worth the cost.  For other less-formal books, the standard pages are perfectly fine.

I just did a Christmas ornament as a gift for someone and that turned out great too.

They have 40-50% off sales very regularly, so I'd suggest waiting until there is a sale.  We had a free book coupon & 50% off sale when I did the parents albums, so I think I did both books for about $20 total.

  • Ooohhh... they are having (up to) 50% off sale right now (ends Wed. 12/3).  Plus, there is a coupon code for additional 20% off (code: CYBER20).

  • Oh, and don't forget you can stack discounts...

I can use the free shipping code on top of a percentage off/free offer.

  • Love the book I just ordered for my parents' Christmas gift. I did the lay-flat pages upgrade and they are sooooo nice.

  • We did every single wedding-related album on Shutterfly. We stacked a ton of discount codes AND Ebates has like 4% cash back for them. Huge savings for us. The shipping was super fast, too. It may take longer during the holidays, but we've always gotten our stuff in about a week.

  • I just made a book for my FI for Christmas and just git it back. Turned out great!

I used it to make our guest book for our wedding.  Rather than some AW slide show, I put a bunch of pictures of DH and I throughout our relationship in there.  I figured people could look through it if they wanted and if not they could skip it.

I was really happy with the book, it turned out very nicely.  I was also happy with their customer service.  When we ordered the book, it didn't arrive when it was supposed to.  I contacted them a few days later, and they overnighted me another printing of it a few days after that because they deemed anything that hadn't been delivered within a certain time to be "lost in the mail."  We ended up with two guest books, because the original arrived about a week after the overnighted one.  (No point in sending one back, since it's not like they can resell it.)

    Edit - correct spelling.

  • Just got a ton of stuff from there. Using coupon codes and other sales, got my total from $355 down to $105 for 500+ prints and three photo albums.
  • Our photographer uses it a lot.  Our engagement and wedding photo books are from Shutterfly, and I am very pleased with them. Our photographer did say the photo on the back cover of the engagement book was slightly pink hued. I didn't even notice, it was that small of a difference, but she said it looked slightly pinker than she had edited.

My mom did have an issue with one of the books she ordered coming apart really quickly.  I don't know how/if that was resolved.

We also ordered the photos to include in our invitations from Shutterfly and ordered the invitations themselves from Wedding Paper Divas, which is owned by them or something.  They're the same company, I think.

It was awesome because we got more than 1/3 of them free!  They had some promo where when you sign up for the first time, you get 50 free 4x6 prints, which is the size we were planning to send.  With that promo ,we ended up paying  $20 for 130 prints!

I have been very satisfied with everything I've seen them.
