Chit Chat

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.

I am a total grump! I just want to sit here and complain and be miserable! Is it 4pm yet? I should probably keep emergency wine in my desk for days like this.

This is me today, to my co-workers.

  • I know the feeling....8mo puppy woke me up at 3:20am to go out.  He generally sleeps through the night but was so insistent that I got a bit worried.  Between that and the 11 degree temperature outside it took me about an hour to get back to sleep and even then I had the weirdest dream. I'm exhausted and grumpy too!  To make matters worse, I work for a beer and wine distribution company so I am only feet away from hundreds of choices but nothing that I can consume.  Boo Hiss!

Ugh. I remember when my dog was a puppy. She woke me up at 4 am for weeks. Dealing with that in the winter was the worst!
  • I'm grumpy too. I'm over my job. I got an email today (I get one weekly) telling me to change certain things about the charts I'm keeping on my clients so that they meet state standards, and it's soooooo harrrdddd. I have to make sure EACH kid is getting both individual therapy AND family therapy AND outside-of-therapy interactions with the family at least once a month, but preferably once a week. And I have a caseload of 54 kids. And most of the family (parents) are usually MIA. This wouldn't even be a big deal if I could just sit in my office all day trying to make contact with my families, but no; I also have to go to the schools in my county for 3-4 hours a day and check on students' attendance, grades, disciplinary records, etc.
I know state standards are there for a reason but I really don't know how to keep up with all of that, and I've been doing this for 2 years.

Whatever happened to my plan of being a trophy housewife?

  • I shouldn't complain he's been really good for about 2 months now.  He was on a kick of 2/3am for about a month and I was dying.  I talked to the vet about it and she asked me if he was rushing outside or lollygagging a bit because she said at 6 mo he should be able to go the whole night so when I told her that he was taking his sweet time to get to the door she said he doesn't have a problem you are the problem.  You've trained him to wake at 3 start telling him to go back to his bed and I bet within a few days he'll be sleeping through the night.  BINGO

@climbingbrideny Please tell me it was worth it.   My husbands been wanting a dog/puppy for ages and I'm starting to finally relent.   It WAS worth it, right?  RIGHT!?    We're contemplating getting one in the next few weeks as we finally have the time to properly train it...but i'm still worried/hesitant.   I'm only had full grown rescue dogs, never puppies.

YES! It was totally worth it. My dog was a rescue. She was a stray they picked up, and she ended up in a kill shelter in NC. Anyway, the first few months were rough. She didn't have very many accidents inside, but I would have to walk her frequently. She also required a lot of exercise.

She's 4 years old now and is such a great dog. We live in the 'burbs and have a fairly large backyard. I let her out the back door to do her business and she comes right back when she's done. This is particularly awesome when it 20 degrees and I don't want to go outside. We take her hiking with us every weekend. She sleeps in our bed every night. She's such a little love bug and I honestly can't imagine my life without her.

THANK YOU!!! That's exactly what I needed to hear. :)  A puppy we're looking at has a similar background.   I'm ok with putting in the work - but wanted to hear from someone else that it was worth it.  Thanks!

It's definitely something that when you put the work in, you're rewarded 110%. Keep me posted on what happens with the dog! (if you can't tell, I'm a crazy dog lover).

I will second the worth it!  We got our little boy from a rescue that takes pups from kill shelters in the South and transports them North for adoption.  He was a 12lb snuggly ball of joy at 3 months.  At 8 months he's probably close to 56lbs but still a snugglebug extraordinaire and he brings SO MUCH LAUGHTER into our home.  Potty training can be tough but nothing beats walking into the door and nearly being pummeled by a pup with a wagging tail!

  • I'm with ya.  Have been for like 2 days.  got a hair cut yesterday which always makes me sad.  Barely been sleeping.  I'm literally annoyed at everything for no reason.

I'm going to treat myself to a pedicure at lunch time and hope that helps.  And wine later.  Lots of wine.

  • Your dog is so adorable!

I am extremely hungover today and have no desire to be here. Unfortunately, I have a lot to do. Dreaming about going home!

I want to say thank you, but it's such a funny thing to say when someone compliments your dog's looks, right? I mean, it's not like I made her!

Get yourself from greasy food! It always helps.
  • I've been sleeping like crap this week. It's an endless cycle of stress, then not being able to sleep, then lack of sleep making the little issues seem worse so I stress more. Today I'm the tiredest I've been all week and I am pretty cranky because of it. Thank god I can sleep as late as I want tomorrow.

LOL that is so funny that you said that. H and my running joke is that any time someone says our dog is cute, we'll say, "Thanks! I think she really has my eyes/ ears/whatever..."

I am way ahead of you on the grease. I may or may not be eating leftover green chili cheese fries with chicharrones for breakfast. Ok, I am.

Greasy food is the worst when I'm hungover, it makes me feel more sick. I always crave fresh food like a big salad!

Worth it! My giant dog was a rescue puppy and he was in bad shape when I got him. He was too young to be separated from his mother but he was anyway, so he couldn't be left alone for very long. I was working full time and living alone, so I hired a "nanny" for him. He had tons of health problems and we went to the vet a LOT.

But he got better, grew into a giant (who woulda guessed that, since he started out at 4 lbs!) and he's an amazing dog. I worked with him, took him to training school, and he's super intelligent. It's amazing the stuff this dog picks up on. Not to mention he's the sweetest most loving dude ever. My beagle is a little shit and giant dog will run up to her all excited and then gently lick her face while wagging his tail. It's adorable. I wouldn't give him up for anything in the world!

  •  I absolutely recommend a dog.  I was never raised with dogs but could no longer imagine not having my cuddle bug greet me when I get home.  Ralphie was a shelter dog we adopted at about a year.  We had some serious anxiety issues to work through but the best thing for him was a doggie door and an electric fence.  Now that he feels unrestricted he is the light in my day.

    And look at that face

My body would be in such better shape if I craved fresh food whenever I was hungover or stressed!

    Thank you!!
  • I'm in annoyed mood as well. My volunteers have been getting on my nerves. Two haven't been showing up, one is sexist a lot, but the others are great! I also had a coworker go over my head to talk to my boss and he comes back telling me what to do. I always want to yell at him to stay in his department! Plus he sorta works for me too...blah.

I also was suppose to have a phone interview today for grad school but they cancelled on me. At least they rescheduled. I just want to watch girl code, sleep, and eat junk food ha.

  • Here's my dude; the super tiny puppy in the first photo is how he started out, the giant moose in the second photo is him now :)

The other chick is my beagle with the bad attitude lol although she's also extremely cuddly and loving.

  • I'm more weepy today than grumpy. Last night right before leaving work my supervisor pulled me in his office to tell me no one in my new department likes me and that I'm rude, abrasive, ask too many questions and don't let others help me.
So of course I was crying the rest of the night and when I woke up this morning my face is all puffy.
    Ugh.

  • @paperpusher Who says that?!?! I mean really, are we in highschool? That's really uncool for anyone let alone a supervisor to say. I don't know you very well but you always seem nice to me. Just remember you are an awesome duck and you can let this roll off your back because they don't deserve your emotions!

Um yeah... that's kind of way out of line for someone to say! I'm sorry he said that to you. I would've been super upset too. But he sounds like an immature dumbass.
