Weekend plans?

Anyone have fun plans this weekend?

Tonight, H and I (and a few friends) are going to a quote-along of Elf

Tomorrow night is H's company party at Maggiano's.  I will be like this -

At some point, I think H and I will go visit my brother and his gf to see how they are recovering post-miscarriage.  A gif doesn't seem appropriate for that.

Oh and I need to wrap presents ...

What about y'all?

Re: Weekend plans?

  • FI is hiding under a rock (he found out his job is ending and he's taking it really hard) so I'm on my own this weekend. Tonight is drinks with a friend and wrapping gifts. Tomorrow I might try to do some shopping and on Sunday a ministry that I volunteer with is hosting a big Christmas dinner at the Atlanta Mission. It should be a nice, not too busy weekend.

@holyguacamole79 I'm sending lots of hugs, thoughts and prayers for your brother and his gf.

  • Tomorrow night, my mom's company is having their holiday party, and I'm going as her date. My mom lives about 90 minutes away, so it will be fun to go spend sometime with her solo. Also, her party is at a super fancy resort, and her company dropped 6-figures on it. They are providing car service home for everyone, so I'm expecting this party is going to be amazing.
  • Wine tonight.  Lots of it.

tomorrow we are picking up the kids for the weekend so that will be fun!  Will bring them to the city, maybe do a movie, lots of reading and snuggle time!

  • Yay @estee33! That is so exciting!!

Tonight I am going to go have dinner with my mom and maybe watch a movie with her at her place while H goes out with some of his buddies.

Tomorrow morning is my orientation to the shelter I am volunteering at. H keeps having me repeat to him, "I will not bring any pets home. I will not bring any pets home..." Then I have my surprise bday party (my bday is Monday and I am not supposed to know about the surprise pary) tomorrow night.

Sunday we are going to put up our tree and make out Christmas cards. Probably will take our puppy to the dog park.

  • @ blabla89holyguacamole79 That sounds fun! I'm also sorry about your brother and his gf, I can't picture the sadness.

My weekend plans are as follows.

Friday after work V and I will most likely sleep, watch tv, and relax. It has been a long week. We will study some too.

Saturady, we will clean/run errands, study, and we have a holiday party! I'm excited, I always love the department's holiday parties.

Sunday, study and eat. We have finals next week so we will be cramming info into our heads all weekend. But the semster is almost over, yay!

    image
  • Nothing "fun."  Just the usual errand running, cooking, and cleaning.  Still better than work!
  • Thanks, @blabla89.  It has been a hard week for sure.   Hugs to your FI, too.  I hope he finds a great new job soon.
  • Tonight, I am doing nothing! Well, I'm cooking dinner. And then drinking wine. In bed.

Tomorrow, I'm going to put up the tree and decorate. Also, clean like a maniac because MIL is coming next week.

Sunday we have Friendsgiving at my best friend's house.
  • After a long miserable week at work I will be celebrating my SO's brother's 33rd birthday tonight! He's having a speakeasy themed party so I think lots of drinking will be involved which is just fine by me. Tomorrow we will be shopping for new bedroom furniture and then celebrating my mom's birthday in the evening. Sundays are always lazy days in my house.

  • DH, my brother, and I are going to drive around and look at Christmas lights tonight. We are going to a well-known area/neighborhood where they go all out with decor!

Saturday DH and I are getting massages (finally getting around to using our gift cert we received last Christmas) and running errands.

Sunday is dinner with my parents and grandparents at Cracker Barrel (lol, grandparents' choice).

Monday I am off work for a "shopping day". Our office lets everyone have a "free day" (where we don't have to use vacation time) to go shop. It's awesome!

  • Tonight is the rehearsal for BFF's wedding tomorrow. I'm leaving work early and going to help her set up. I'm most excitied about getting to go eat Olive Garden afterwards. Pasta!!! And wine!!!
    image

Tomorrow is the wedding itself. I just need it to be over already. And it's a dry wedding.
    image

So afterwards, I'm making boozy hot chocolate and we're going to a Jingle Bell Rock party thing at this light show that's up. There will be music and I'm bringing a flask for when my hot chocolate runs out and I need more.

Sunday we're going to try to put up our outside decorations. We keep saying we're going to do it and it has yet to happen. We got the decorations out of the closet so I think that counts. We live in an apartment we don't have that much to do. A couple strings of lights, a few little do-dads and boom, we're done. Might take an hour.

  • I gotta get my car inspected (late) today or tomorrow.

I also have to bring over FMIL's new computer since I partway set it up last night and am the best FDIL ever.

I need to figure out if it's possible to oven-dry my pizza stone, then make an ASS TON of pizza dough. And then I'm going to take the island, the table, baker's rack, and chairs all into the living room and scrub the ever-loving fuck out of my stupid kitchen floor because it's driving me insane.

Tomorrow we're going to get the tree from the super cute little farm on the other side of town and I'm going to ask them about doing our (late as fuuuuqqqq) engagement shoot there. Just going to treat the shoot itself as an excuse to have some non-phone selfies of us where we look nice.

Then I gotta finish cleaning the house, par-bake some pizza crusts, and get my apps and toppings figured out before everyone shows up to eat.

Sunday I think we're going to belated birthday lunch with the FILs. If just FBIL/FSIL are going to come for pizza I'll invite the FILs and we can call that the birthday thing. I love them but I have seen them more than I've seen FI due to work and I really want to spend a day at home hanging out with just him.

Buh. That's a lot of shit.

After work I have to get my car checked out because it's making scary noises, and my coworker said she'd hang out with me at the mall while that was getting done so I don't have to sit around. Tonight I plan to catch up on some much-needed sleep.

This weekend FI and I were thinking about taking our dog to see Santa Paws at PetSmart, but he's on call at work so that might have to wait until next weekend. Other that we have no plans, and that's pretty dandy with me!

ETA: I have to show you guys a picture of FI and our pooch the last time he took him to see Santa Paws. This was in 2009, a couple years before we met.

  • Pretty quiet weekend here! NOTHING planned for tomorrow, so I'm hoping to put a Christmas tree up. Still undecided whether we're doing real or fake this year - they both trigger H's allergies equally (sap versus dust) so he's sort of ambivalent to it.

Christmas party with H's step-dad's extended family on Sunday. Slightly annoyed by this one because the only people we really know/interact with on that side are his step-dad, -uncle and -grandparents, with whom we'll ALSO get together on Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day, so I don't really know why they get so much time. But it's so early in the month that it's not taking away from anything else, so we can't really say no.

  • FI is out of town for his Bachelor party this weekend.

So, tonight I'm watching Elf, drinking wine, and cleaning.

The Christmas parade I'm in charge of is tomorrow morning. Then me and my SIL are going to get candles for the wedding. I'll probably eat lots of unhealthy food and drink more wine tomorrow night too.

  • City holiday parade/shop 'n stroll is down the street from our house tomorrow night, so we'll probably walk over there (and maybe take some mulled wine in to-go mugs ;) ). Other than that, the both of us will just be trying to get new dissertation progress to our advisers before we leave for our parents' respective states in a couple weeks. Also going running outside if it's warm enough while we still can.
  • Providing nothing happens with my grandfather between today and the weekend, we have a quiet little weekend planned for ourselves.

Tonight I'll order some Christmas presents and finish making the photobooks from Shutterfly for my mom and my MIL.

Tomorrow H is taking me out to lunch and then we're going to get our Christmas tree. I really just want to go to a lot and get a pre-cut tree but H insists that we trek into the cold and cut one down ourselves. Luckily the farm we're going to isn't huge so it shouldn't take us long to find one.

Sunday I plan on cleaning the whole house and decorating the tree. H will take the dog at some point over to his parents house to watch the Bills game at 4 and give me a few hours of alone time.

All of this may change and we may spend the weekend trekking back and forth between our house and the town my grandparents live in if my grandfather passes away.

Much needed sleep in and snuggles! Been a long week with FI initially away visiting family and then coming home only to immediately go out on some overnight flights for work!

  • My primary client just threw about 2 months of work at me that needs to be done before Christmas... so, I will be working all weekend.  :(

Tonight is my work Christmas party... at a wine bar!  So, tonight I'll be hanging out with work people, food, and drinks.

And tomorrow is also the Grand Opening of an ice cream shop that I designed, so I will definitely be taking a break from work to get some free ice cream (I'm in Phoenix, AZ, so the weather is still acceptable for ice cream).

    Yay for Arizona winters!

It's 38 degrees here right now and I totally just had ice cream with lunch. It's always ice cream weather to me.
  • MIL's birthday today, so we're going to have tea and doughnuts with her tomorrow morning, and also deliver the shrimp she ordered so she can buy more if necessary.

And we'll probably braai (that's similar to BBQ) on Sunday because load shedding. I hate Eskom.

And somewhere along the line I plan to wrap Christmas gifts, and sit on DH until he writes the thank you notes for his family...

  • Tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday I will be preparing for an interview. They asked specifically for CAD samples of my work so I need to put together a book of samples with all the programs the company uses. I'll probably vacuum the apartment tonight too. My dog has been shedding like crazy!

Tomorrow, FI and I are going to start assembling invitations and I'll probably finish the card box.

Sunday, I'm hoping the sample book would be pretty much done and ready to print so I might work on redoing another project on my portfolio too...or I might try to relax.

  • Tonight I'm going on a double date to see Avenue Q.

Tomorrow I have to get my Christmas shopping done so I can get the gifts in the mail in time for delivery for Christmas. Tomorrow night DH and I were invited to an ugly Christmas sweater chips and boardgames party.

Sunday my yoga studio is having an open house so I'm going to a couple free classes then I have to start writing up my recent research for publication.

  • Tonight I'm going to a big holiday get together thing at a restaurant downtown. I'm pretty excited to eat.

Tomorrow I need to go shopping for a new pair of jeans. My favorite pair has developed a significant hole. I would also like to put up christmas lights on my porch, but I need to clean and do laundry.

I'm hoping to get Christmas cards ordered this weekend too.

  • I'm doing a favour for a friend who's a catering supervisor at a fancy hotel and I'm going to bartend (for the first time in a loooooong time) for a couple of events tonight and tomorrow. Scary stuff, lol. I've had an office job too long to be any good at high-volume bartending but hopefully it'll go okay.

And Sunday we are finally going skiing like three weeks after the season opened. I CAN'T wait.

That IS awesome!  I wish more companies would learn that sometimes it's the little things that make people happy.
  • Work and a holiday party tomorrow. Off Sunday, so I'll probably start making truffles. Maybe fire up the sewing machine.
