I have a long time friend who is getting legally married to her partner now that it is legal in their state. They had a commitment ceremony and reception a few years ago which I went to and gave a gift for. They aren't inviting people to the legal ceremony so I am not going. Nonetheless, I am happy for them. Is it appropriate to give a gift in this situation? I know it's not necessary etiquette wise, but I thought it would be nice to send something small to let them know I'm happy for them. Clearly they don't have a registry, and they live in a different state so it's not like I can give them a bottle of wine or something next time I see them. I'm kind of stuck on what to do and what to get them.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
