Chit Chat

Merry F'ing Christmas

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

So I got back from a late lunch today and was walking into my building after an older man.  Because I am an employee I ended up getting to the elevator first (he had to go through metal detectors) but he got on the elevator after me and this is how our conversation goes:

Him: "I need the 3rd floor please."

Me: "Sure"  & I press the button for him

Him: "I like that color of your sweater" (hot pink)

Me: "Oh, thanks"

Him: "Are you ready for the holidays?"

Me: "Oh yes, I absolutely love Christmastime"

Him: "Probably just to gain more weight I'm sure" (I am obviously overweight, but dressed normally??)

I FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN BITCHSLAPPED. My immediate reaction was "Wow, well THAT was rude". But at this point we were at the floor he needed so he gets off and looks back at me and just says snarkily "Well, I am just telling the truth".

Don't know if I want to laugh, cry or go back downstairs and find him! What in the world makes people think it is ok to go around acting like that to random people who you met approx. 10 seconds ago.

    Because they are assholes.

They were never corrected as children, they grew up to be asshole adults, and by the time people hit their 70's everyone else has this strange sense of Respect They Elders that no one ever tells these assholes off.

You should have looked at him and said, 'Well Grandpa, I'd eat up if I were you because this will likely be your last Christmas."
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

  • OMG! I am so sorry. What a fucking prick!

  • I'm not really taking it to heart, because even though I am a big girl, I have always had a lot of self confidence. Just so annoying that people can go around treating others like that. Why compliment me and make chit-chat? Just shut your mouth and keep your fucked up thoughts to yourself!

  • What an asshole!

Sometimes people suck. While I'm not a fan of hurting people, I hope you have the opportunity to see him trip and fall on his face next time he steps into an elevator.

I  met an older lady who was a friend of my mom's for the first time and the first thing she said to me was "have you gained weight or is that just the way you're standing?"  Older folks really have no filter, but honestly I don't make exceptions because of that.  Unless you're my grandma, and then I kind of have to, but yeah girl just let it roll off.  A'int no thing!

  • I'm so sorry you had to put up with his BS. I hate when people say "I'm just being honest" to excuse their shitty behaviour.

What the actual fuck. Prepare for a small rant:

I loved my grandparents, but it PISSES me off when old people use their age as an excuse to have no filter and then have the audacity to be like "oh kids these days... (don't know the value of money), (are selfish), (are lazy), (other annoying things people say about us).  When my great aunt met my cousin's black fiance she was literally like "YOU'RE MARRYING AN (N word)! Your parents didn't raise you right."  I yelled at her. UGH. What the actual fuck.

    Rant over.

ETA: I just realized I made this all about me. I'm sorry he's a dink. I hope he gets licked by a smelly homeless person with herpes.
  • What a jackass.

  • Ugh, I'm so sorry. That's the worst thing I've heard on TK in awhile (and we hear some pretty awful things here!)

  • What the actual fuck?  Let me direct him to my goddess, Miss Latrice Royale, who proves that weight has nothing to do with how much of a BAMF you can be:  WEIGHT.

  • Fuck that dude! Seriously.

I worked at a bank many years ago and had a lady tell me I would be so much prettier if I lost 20 pounds. I didn't know whether to cry or tell her to fuck off.

  • Why the fuck do people think others' bodies are there for them to judge?  Like it is a woman's job to look a certain way to please the eye of whoever the fucking asshole is in the case.
I might make an ageist or another kind of rude remark back to him if you see him again.

When I was 12 or 13 I had just started experimenting with makeup. One day my friends came over so I got all dolled up with eyeliner, hot pink blush, and dark brown lip gloss. I'm sure I looked like a total mess but I was still learning! I was strolling through the dining room-- where my grandma was sitting and chatting with my mom and one of their friends-- leading my friends out to the backyard. My grandma stopped me suddenly and turned me towards her. She took my face in her hands, looked at me for a minute very seriously, and then said, "You look like a whore." K thanks.
