Wedding Woes

Since it is a wedding website

Some of these are really great and some are just blah.

I think my favorite is on #2, but I wish it'd been photographed on a different background.

Re: Since it is a wedding website

  • I hate those naked cakes. I love frosting. Don't cheat me of frosting with that naked cake business.

Side note: my sister is undecided on having cake at the wedding and just having whatever dessert the reception venue suggests. I told my mom I'd buy a Costco sheet cake and eat it at the table. I can't imagine a wedding without cake.
  • The chalkboard one gives me the heebie-jeebies.  I hate chalk and chalkboards even though I know it's cake.

The topper on the stack of ruffles one is terrible.  All I see is bebe do!

The bright iced gems one and the fairytale ones are my favorites.

  • And I agree with Pmeg naked gets are dumb.  If you aren't giving me frosting give me pie or cheesecake.
  • LOL. I actually like the #3 naked cake because it looks like...food. Fondant barely qualifies as food. It's joint compound. That being said, without the heaps of frosting and fondant, there's no room for sloppiness or cover ups...hear that, sad little strawberry nekkid cake?

Chalkboard cake? Let's go back to first grade and the principal's office because of that nagging case of pica that made you eat chalk. It doesn't help that it reeks hipster.

I think my favorite wedding cake display at any wedding I've been to was not a constructed masterpiece. 5 different pies, five different cakes (regular cake size), plus the GF pistachio cake the B+G shared. None of them were the Costco supermarket staples.

Yeah, three different pieces of cake, plus pie. It was magnificently naughty.

  • The chalkboard cake is a hell no.

I loved 7 and 11 because of the colors.  So bold.

  • I'm not a frosting fan, so the naked cakes are somewhat appealing.  I actually really like that pretty airy looking "woodland" concoction though.

We had a dessert bar that included a hummingbird cake, but that was the only cake.  We were trying to price them out and DH seemed rather ambivalent. I asked why, he said, "I don't really like cake."  I said, "I don't either".  Cake was nixed.
  • I really like #17.  They're all pretty awesome to look at.
