Casual Groom and Groomsmen?

Ok, so, I'm trying to keep things really simple with the bridal party. Ha! The main problem is that I look awful/jaundiced in white, so my dress is champagne and ivory.  The bridesmaids are wearing black and carrying colorful, mismatched wildflowers. The men do not want to wear jackets (July wedding in the South - I don't blame them!). How can I dress the men without adding too many more colors, or having them look like the servers at the reception dinner, i.e. Black pants, white shirts, matching ties??? Can they wear white shirts if I'm wearing champagne and ivory? Or do they need ivory shirts so we don't clash?

Our top options right now are:
Black pants, Black shoes, Black belt, Ivory or white shirts, Black ties
OR
Black pants, Black Shoes, Black Belt, Ivory or white shirts, color coordinating but not matching ties

Help please!

Re: Casual Groom and Groomsmen?

  • I like your second option.  Since they won't be wearing jackets then they won't have bouts or pocket squares so having some colorful ties would be a nice touch.  And this would probably be really easy on them money wise because most guys have black slacks and white dress shirts, so all they may really need to get is a tie in whatever color you pick.

And yes, they can wear white shirts if you are wearing a ivory dress.

    And

  • White shirts are fine with champagne/ivory next to them.  Your men will look very under-dressed next to you if you are wearing a full bridal gown, though.  What about linen sports jackets that they can remove after the ceremony and photos?
