Name Change Frustration

So I have my name changed on everything...except my credit card. I am at my wit's freaking end with Wells Fargo.

I called WF a month and a half ago and they told me they would mail me a form that I needed to fill out and send back with copies of my marriage license and drivers license. Done and done. I still haven't gotten my card with my updated name. So I called customer service today because I now have zero forms of ID that match my old name so if someone at a store wants ID I'm SOL and she's like "well I don't know what happened so I have to send you another form for you to send back." What. The. Hell. When I asked why she can't use the form I already sent, which she told me they did, in fact, receive, she says she doesn't have access to it. Then she tells me that my name seems to be changed on my other accounts. Ummm...I've closed all my accounts but my CC with them so I don't know where they effed up on that. I'm so done with these people. If it wasn't my oldest CC, I'd be cancelling it.

Someone pour me some wine to go with my whine!

As soon as I saw Wells Fargo I just want to post that I FUCKING HATE THEM and they are the worst bank on Earth and you should just change banks as well as change names. I had so many issues with them last year. So many expensive and time consuming issues on their part.

I originally opened an account with Wachovia because my college had an ATM on campus. They were then bought my WF so my accounts all transferred. WF got me with a student credit card when I was a sophomore, which is fine because I needed to build up credit in college and I never hold a balance, but since it is my first card I can't (well, shouldn't) close it or I will significantly shorten my credit history in 10 years when it falls off my report.

I have closed all my other accounts and now bank with a local credit union. Much better to work with.

  • Have you tried going in person to Wells Fargo?  We have personal and business accounts there and haven't had any real bad experiences with them.  When I was changing my name, I went in person and they were able to change it on all accounts, safe deposit box, and order all new cards fairly quickly and easily.  Although, I don't have any credit cards through them, so that may be different.

Now, I will say that although I have several accounts at WF, we did recently open accounts at a smaller, private owned bank that we really like, so we may be switching our all accounts there in the near future.

The woman on the phone suggested I go in person to the branch, as they'd be able to fax the paperwork directly.
However, every time I've gone in, they always pester me about opening new accounts so I try to avoid it at all costs.

I haven't changed any of my credit cards yet. People around here normally don't ask for ID, but we were up in a tourist town today and every. single. place. asked for ID. I just showed them my license and said "the name doesn't match cuz I just got married." They all said "oh that's OK!" and accepted the card. Umm OK the . Card wasn't even signed, haha.

I know this isn't helpful. Wine?
