How long do I wait?

Today is 31 days since we got married (Wooo!). Per our contract with our photographer, we were supposed to have our edited photos back 30 business days after the date of the wedding... I'm not sure what constitutes as a "business" day for a photographer? Monday-Friday? including Saturdays?

I thought 30 days was pretty short to begin with, but he got our engagement photos back to us quicker than that in the middle of wedding season (June) so I wasn't too worried. With the holidays coming up, and no real rush to have the photos back, I'm wondering how long you ladies would wait before contacting the photographer? Today? After the holidays (Jan 2nd)? Is it too soon to be worried?

  • Too soon to be worried. I don't think it's out of line just to check in and see if he has an estimated date when they might be finished, but then leave him alone after that. When people nag me and get rude at work and need something from me, I purposely make them wait for it (not that you would nag or be rude, but I always think it's best not to annoy the person you need something from) ;)

  • "Business days" should always mean Monday-Friday.  It's a standard term, and doesn't usually take the unique business into account.  So the contract means it will be about 6 weeks (from your wedding date) before you get your professional pictures back.  I definitely wouldn't be worried yet.

    Congrats on getting married

  • If you aren't in a rush to see them, I would wait until after the holidays when you are clearly past the 30 business days.

Monday-Friday but I would exclude thanksgiving and black Friday,  so you're still well under 30 days.
  • I would take "business days" to mean M-F unless specified otherwise, or at least to only mean 5 days per week. So that puts you at 6 weeks.

It would exclude Black Friday??  Really?  Haha maybe it's just because I have to work on Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and the day after Christmas, but I would just consider Federal holidays to be exempt from "business days"

Yeah generally it should only exclude bank holidays.

  • In contracts, business days usually means Monday - Friday. Some people exclude major holidays like Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Christmas, New Years Day, Memorial Day, etc.

If the contract said "calendar days" you could follow up today. Unfortunately, count your days and be patient!

  • Ditt PPs, and keep in mind that you might not have these as quickly as your E shoot photos because I'm guessing there's a lot more of them to go through...

    Congrats on the wedding!
  • Count only MON -FRI with 3days off for Thanksgiving.
