Hey hey, it's Friday

Good morning, lovely ladies!

I'm leaving work early today and going to DE to see my mom. She's doing great from her surgery. We had a little scare with Brody on Wednesday. We're still not really sure what happened but my mom thought he was going to die. He was trembling and his head was bobbing back and forth and his body went limp at one point and he couldn't walk. It was really scary. She just sent me a video of him running around the house and attacking everything he can get his paws on, though, so it looks like he's back to normal!

So I'm going down to see them and Lucy is there and I can't wait to snuggle her cow nose right off her face!

Tomorrow the Eagles play at 4:30 and I might drive home after the game is over just so I can wake up in my own bed with H on Sunday. We'll probably go out for football that day and then I have to wrap all of my Christmas presents! I can't believe it's in 6 days!

What's up with you guys?

Re: Hey hey, it's Friday

  • Last day of midterms woohoo!!

I'll be done around 2:30 and maybe a date night or home improvement night with H this evening. We also have to finish making our Christmas presents this weekend. Of course one of my students made me sickish so I'm only mildly looking forward to doing anything this weekend. Then I'm off until jan 5th which is work from home so I'm pretty excited
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @Swazzle - It sounds like it could have been a seizure?  If it was, have your mom keep an eye out and see if it happens again, if it does, off to the vet's for Brody!  If it just happens the once, many times vets cannot get to the bottom of it.

I'm on vacation ALL next week!!  40 Days until we go back to Florida as well (not that I'm counting)!  I've got nothing planned, clean the house up, play video games, relax... that is the goal!  H is supposed to be on vacation today.  He slept on the couch last night because he fell asleep while working, but I got a better night sleep because he wasn't snoring in my ear (even with those breath right strips - they help A LOT but he's still snoring).

My shark navigator vacuum came, It works way better than my old vac - a little too well on my rug (I can see a few dirty spots that I need to get a spot cleaner out on).  I just hope it can keep working nicely with the dogs!.

  • @dignity100 right? I love my H but the snoring has to go

  • @Swazzle So glad to hear your mom is recovering well. I hope it was nothing serious with Brody! Keep us updated with that.

DH is going hunting again this weekend so tonight I'll go to CrossFit and then maybe pick up dinner on the way home. MIL and SFIL are picking up Maddux tonight to watch him over the weekend because tomorrow we are leaving early to go to Augusta.

Saturday we will spend the day in Augusta with my mom's brothers and we will go visit my grandmother's grave and probably go out to dinner. Depending on how late we get home I might go pick up Maddux if I have time.

Sunday I plan to do some wreath making and just having a Netflix binge day. DH comes home on Monday so this weekend will be pretty low key.
  • @Blue - What kind of Christmas presents are you making?

@Dignity100 - My mom took him to the vet right away. Unfortunately, it was at the end of the day and they were about to close. They basically said that it would be up to $1000 to keep him overnight (alone) and do blood work which we wouldn't get the results from until the following afternoon. They recommended taking him home and monitoring him that night. Since he was improving yesterday, she didn't take him back. I'm jealous of your vacation!

@southernpeach89 - Thanks! What are you going to binge watch on Sunday?

  • sounds like a lot of fun weekends coming up!  @Dignity100, enjoy your full week off next week!!

I have a LOT to do today!!  I'm at work until 11:00 and then I'm off to get everything done.  I need to take some things by the alterations place to drop off, get our non-produce/meat groceries at the store, go by Target, vacuum the house, work out, go by the furniture store to maybe get a new chair, go buy our produce/meat, stop by Anthro to get something for Dirty Santa next week, and somewhere eat in all that.  I'm chugging a breakfast shake with spinach right now, going to get some coffee in my system, and hopefully hit the ground running today.  thankfully I'm done with Christmas presents, except I need some tissue paper to stuff a couple gift bags.

tomorrow I'm going to eat Guatemalan brunch with H and a friend.  that's all I've got planned for Saturday!  oh, and I need to work some... the feds got the day after Christmas off, so I need to earn some hours to help cover it so I don't have to take leave.  meh, contracting.

Sunday morning is our church's kids Christmas program, and Sunday evening we'll have our church Christmas dinner.

  • @Swazzle - glad Brody is feeling like himself again, even if it means he's bad!
  • @cocobellaf - Thank you! I jokingly told my mom he's turned back into a devil cat just in time for me to come visit!

  • Goooood Friday morning!!

@Swazzle - That's so scary about Brody! It sounds like he's better now, hopefully he stays that way and your mom can keep an eye on him. Enjoy your puppy snuggles!!

@Dignity100 and @Blue & White - Omg the snoring...save me. FI actually went to an ENT earlier this week and he suggested a mouthguard. He also said that dropping a few pounds would help (and I think it already has...he'd been trying to lose weight and I haven't been waking up from his snoring as much!)

I am SO tired today, I have no idea why. I stayed in bed about 30 minutes longer than I should have, yet still managed to get to work on time. TGIF.

Last night we looked at a few houses and one of them could definitely work. It needs a LOT of work, but is priced alright and had a huge lot. The one I liked from pictures was sadly a poorly done facelift, there were a ton of problems with the work they had done...clearly trying to flip the place. It was unfortunate because I really liked the layout, but the price and amount of work needed just don't line up with our budget. We're going back to look at the first one tomorrow with FFIL (because this where I actually DO want his input, about renovations!) and to check out the area during daylight, and we might try to see a couple other places on the list from our realtor.

I'm starting to hit a crunch to get some stuff wrapped up at work before the holidays...3 more work days and then I get a week and a half off!!! So I need to be productive today. Tonight FI and I are just going to hang out and I'm going to finish wrapping presents for my family. Then tomorrow morning I am going to try on (and hopefully order) dresses with my other 3 BMs. Then FI and I will go back to that house and then hopefully go home and relax for a bit. Maybe movies tomorrow night. Sunday will be church and more present wrapping and hopefully a nap.

  • @swazzle we are making wooden frames with a snowflake and tree that we cut out with our cnc machine. We just haven't been home to finish them

@lmcooper86 H weighs very close to less than me. Losing weight will not help. Lame.

@swazzle, healthy vibes for your mom and Brody!

@blue, have fun on your holiday break! What are you making for presents? ETA: And you posted as I was typing ... can I see a picture?

@dignity100, I love new vacuums. Makes me want to play "Ride of the Valkyries."

@southernpeach89, what are you planning to binge on Netflix?

@cocobellaf, holy cow - your today exhausts me!

@twodimes, have fun baking and good luck in your championship! What's your trophy?

@lmcooper86, one of the best things FI and I did in our house hunt was to bring my uncle along when we looked at the place we ended up getting. He's owned homes for 40+ years and knew what this needs in terms of renovation and whether we could do it (physically, financially, and in my case, emotionally - I'm not good with chaos).
    ---
So woo I'm more normal! Not sure whether that's a good thing or not. Rocket propulsion final was relatively straightforward - I only feel like I made up a little science, which puts it way ahead of the two midterms, both of which I did well on. Cross your fingers for an A!

FI has the day off work and he's going to move the daybed frame into the library and glue it together. When my parents gave it to us, they took it apart to get it up here and it doesn't want to go back together all the way. Nothing that will compromise it at all, just aesthetics, and nothing a little Elmer's won't solve. I'm going in to the office to review two journal articles for profs. At least I hope I get through them both!

Tomorrow FI and I might go see Mockingjay, then he has gaming. I'll get some knitting done and binge either on Netflix or animated Christmas specials, and I make no apologies for that.

Sunday is for football. Oh wait, I guess Saturday is for football too ... well, I know what I'm watching then!

@Swazzle @Keptinstitches -American Horror Story I'm just starting the 2nd season!

    @TwoDimes -UM yea we would!
  • @swazzle I'm glad Brody is ok. I hope he stays ok!

This is a real busy weekend.  I will pratically be living at the theater this weekend. I have a show tonight, two tomorrow and one on Sunday. Then after Sunday's afternoon show I have rehearsal for my other show that opens in 3 weeks.

So they are treating us at work with coffee, tea and treats, so much desserts and snacks.  I already starting eating some.  Yay sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least I have off Monday where I plan to finish my shopping and do some wrapping.

  • @Blue @TwoDimes @Imcooper86- I'm seriously thinking about making H go for a sleep study/surgery because I think he has lots of breathing troubles while sleeping... he's always gasping for air and snoring in his sleep.  The other night, I was sleeping peacefully he got as close as you could to me (mouth right up to my ear) and snored as loud as he could  and I jumped like 3 feet out of bed it scared the pooh out of me!!  <<of course he didn't know he did that>>.  I think we need a support group which would include lots of coffee :)

@Swazzle - Hopefully he continues to do well and it was just a one time thing!!  Glad your mom is feeling better and same with Brody.

    @Imcooper86 - YAY house!!!

  • @lmcooper86 - Thanks! Yay for finding a maybe-house! I hope it works out :)

    @blue - That sounds adorable!

@KeptInStitches - Fingers crossed for you!

@southernpeach89 - Nice! Season 2 was actually my least favorite, I never finished watching it. The first season was hands down the best of all of them.

@Peaseblossom55 - You're such a busy bee! Sending vibes your way for good shows and rehearsals.

@Dignity100 - I hope so too. I can't wait to see him today.

  • Hi everyone!! I've been at offsite meetings all week for work but I finally have time to chat!

@swazzle I'm glad your mom is doing better and that Brody is back to his normal self!  It does sound like he may have had a seizure.

@dignity100 enjoy your time off!!  I was looking at the Shark navigator the other day, I'm glad it works really well because I need a good vacuum.

I can't believe Christmas is next week.  I have to make a few more gifts (making signs for a few family members) and I still need to wrap everything.  I ended up getting bf more than I planned.  So he is now getting practical gifts and funny gifts.  The funny gifts are a a beaver cover for his golf clubs and schwetty golf balls.  The practical gifts are a bluetooth portable speaker and a knife sharpener.

  • @swazzle -Yea DH told me that he wasn't a huge fan of season 2 either. I really enjoyed the first season. I think I binge watched that whole season last weekend lol.
  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Finally Friday!!! It's my last day of work until January 2nd. It's okay, you can be jealous.

Last night, we had some friends over for dinner. We exchanged presents, and they got us an amazing red enamel Dutch oven!! I'm so excited. The first thing I do when we get home from Christmas is make a pot roast.

Tonight, FI & I are going to our neighbors house for "cookies & coffee!" Our neighborhood is just the cutest. I just have to try to make it through the work day. Ugh.

Tomorrow we're heading to Maine!! We'll be up there till Christmas Eve, and then head down to the Boston area to see FI's family. I'm so excited for time off and some family time.

  • @CocoBellaF - Crap girl, put "take a nap" on that list somewhere!

@TwoDimes - You just reminded me that I have to bake pretty much all Sunday afternoon for Christmas dinner with my friends on Monday! I don't know how I forgot about that!

@Blue & White - Well damn. I hope you get him sorted out soon, snoring is the worst!

@KeptInStitches - FI's family runs a construction company, which is the only reason I would even consider a house that needs major renovations. FFIL has a great eye for how spaces can be re-worked and improved, and he can give us approximate costs for all of the work. His insight into the renovations aspect is going to be super important for us making the final decision. That being said, I want his input about renovations only; last time he got involved in our house hunt we walked away from a house and I was (and sort of still am) pissed.

@Dignity100 - Yes please!! I actually broke down and got a coffee today because I am so flippin' tired I can't stand it. We can all chat at 3 in the morning when our SOs wake us up lol

  • @Goldenpenguin @Swazzle I haven't seen season 1 either, can I join? J/k... I've been meaning to watch it since season 3...I always find better things to do with my time.

  • @speakeasy14 - <<THIS>> is the one I got - they keep changing the price on it, I got it for 149.99; when I Started watching it, it was 199.99 so I was planning on going to a certain big box store with a 20% off coupon, then the major online retailer brought it down to the $150 so I just ordered it.  We will see how it holds up - my dogs kill vacuums with their shedding!!

  • @Swazzle - Oh no, I'm so sorry about Brody!  It sounds like a seizure to me...Smudge has them sometimes, and she's always fine by the next day.

@CocoBellaF - Starbucks.  Now.  Seriously I want to take a nap just looking at your day.

It's the last day of my research trip, so I went to one library this morning and then I just got to another one.  I have 2 more rolls of microfilm to go through, so hopefully I can get that done fairly quickly.  Then it's yoga and spending the night with my sister and BIL!  We were going to try a new brewery tonight, but my sister was sick last night so probably we'll just stay in and feed the cats catnip and watch movies.  Tomorrow I have a barre fit class, which I've never tried before, and then tomorrow night we're going to Prairie Home Companion and then out to dinner at a restaurant called the Happy Gnome.  I picked it solely for the name.

I also need to make a Trader Joe's run at some point...the city where I live in Oklahoma has TERRIBLE grocery stores, and so when I travel TJ's has become sort of my addiction.  Plus, my mom wants me to pick her up some wine...she told me she was willing to spend $100, so I get to have fun buying ALL the wine at TJ's.  (Seriously, I told her..."Do you know how much wine we can get for $100 at Trader Joe's?")

Oh, and a Mr. Historian update: I wrote him a long email about why I was so upset (since that's really the only way we have to communicate these days).  We were able to chat for a while, and he seemed to be feeling a little better.  Nothing's been resolved, exactly, but at least I was able to tell him how I'm feeling (that's always been a HUGE problem for me).  I'm trying my best to stay happy and optimistic, but it's hard, because our family Christmas celebration keeps growing bigger by the day...first it was just immediate family, then my aunt and uncle and cousins decided to come up, and we found out this morning that my sister's in-laws are coming down as well.  My family throws a big Christmas party/hymn sing every year, and it is killing me that he isn't going to be here for the big celebration.  But...it'll be okay, I guess.

OK.  Microfilm.  When I have to take a break I'll come back :)
  • @Swazzle - Poor little Brody! That's so scary! On the other hand, though, I am also very glad to hear that your mom is doing great after her surgery!

@Dignity100 - I should have taken all of next week off. I even scheduled a meeting on Tuesday. So dumb.

@TwoDimes - Do you guys have a physical trophy? What does it look like? Have you heard about the league where you don't want to lose (rather than wanting to win) because the loser gets a tattoo chosen by then rest of the league?

    -----------------

I definitely liked season 1 of AHS the best so (I've only seen 1-3), but I was super invested in season 2 because the guy that plays Thredson/Sylar/Spock is one of my favorite villain actors EVER! He's so creepy!

Tonight I'm taking BF's SIL to the Nutcracker ballet! She's never been before, and I've convinced her to dress up, which she never gets to do, and I'm taking her out to dinner. Her man always gets to come hang out with us, so I thought it was only right that she gets a night without the kids every once in a while!

Tomorrow and Sunday are only Netflix and cross stitching. I truly believe I may be able to finish if I do nothing but work on my stocking all weekend. BF's dick-of-a-brother is coming all day on Saturday, so I'm really glad I have an excuse to not have to talk to him.

  • @GoldenPenguin - I knowwwww :(

@futuremrshistorian - That is a LOT of TJ wine!

@AlPacina - Thank you! So many Netflix marathons this weekend. What will you be watching?
