Christmas Parties

Tell me about your parties and post pictures!

So DH and I were at this charity party (aka grown up frat party) tonight. He immediately spotted a celebrity from Gas Monkey (one of his favorite shows). He got a picture with him! They had pictures all red-carpet-like. I really needed some sequins, y'all. DH is so into the parties for business connections and to "be seen" but I'm such an introvert that standing around in 4 inch heels looking pretty while getting drunk is not my idea of fun. But it was an okay party!

Share your parties that you're throwing/attending!

Re: Christmas Parties

  • I don't have any parties. Hence why I'm a grinch and we're spending X-mas in a hot tub in Maine.

I love Richard Rawlings- he & Oliver Peck are my sexy old men crushes and I hope DH looks like them when he's their age.

Sorry don't hate me but I have to say it- I hate your husband's bow tie. I hate all bow ties.

  • I had four parties last weekend ( cookie exchange and booze fest on Friday, two ugly sweater parties on Saturday and a Christmas cocktail party Monday night). Sadly, I didn't take any pictures at any of them.  But I did have a boatload of cookies though.
  • All of our remaining parties are family parties -
    24th: ILs
25th: extended family on FIL's side
26th: extended family on MIL's side
27th: my mom/siblings (dad will be there too, a Christmas miracle, probably the bitch aunt)
    1st: my dad/step sisters

I'm going to be eating so many sausage balls.

  • We had our company party last night. It was black tie optional and was more fun than I expected. Last weekend was a causal pot luck dinner party for our church group, and the weekend before was h's company party at Maggianos. I think we are done!
  • Didn't go to my company Christmas party. Last year some warehouse workers got in a fight and someone pulled a knife was not going to be a part of that. Went to FIs company party last night, the company is way smaller than when I worke there so it was more just dinner in a way too small room than the normal drunken dance party it usually is.

I did get REALLY drunk since halfway through the CEO walked up and said he'd save me the walk across the room and just handed me 6 extra drink tickets!

What are these magical sausage balls you speak of? Are they just like meatballs?

Our work had a low-key luncheon this year, and I won a mini-coke fridge. The next night I went to my mom's company's holiday party, which was the complete opposite. It was at a swanky resort, the food was great, and there was a top-shelf open bar. They also paid for towncar service so no one had to drink and drive, My mom won $1000, and she gave me 1/2 for being her date!

Here's my mom and I outside at her party

  • I love your dress Sugargirl! No Christmas parties for me this year. My department does a holiday party with a buffet turkey dinner, charity raffle and dancing. DH had to work that night and with his shift time and the fact that we live far away from where the party was held made it way too much effort for me to go. DH's work has a small, staff only, potluck Christmas party. He said it was super lame.

  • I had never heard of sausage balls. I thought maybe H had because he grew up in the Midwest, but he hasn't either. And now we both want them! Thanks for the recipe lolo!
  • 12/24, we have to go to FI's aunt and uncle's house for their yankee swap. I have to make an appetizer but idk what to make.

12/25 we have another yankee swap at his OTHER aunt an uncle's house. Only going to be there for a couple hours because we'll go to my parents' house after that, and then he'll need to go home and sleep because he's working that night.

I think we're not doing anything after that because he's working and I'm content not to leave the house for a god damn thing since present night is done.

  • My work Christmas party - after school in the staff room, bring an appie/dessert to share, tacky sweater theme and a tacky gift exchange. I did get a magnetic dart board though to hang in tn PE office.

DH's Christmas part this past weekend - entire company plus spouses in the mountains. Welcome party Friday night with open bar, breakfast covered Sat morning, formal dinner and awards Sat night. All covered. Rooms, food, alcohol, etc. the joys of being a teacher versus an oil and gas engineer in Alberta. It was Ana amazing weekend though, and I slept in both days, which was probably the best part

  • In the past week I've had 2 work holiday parties/get togethers, BFs work holiday party and another friend's holiday party.

I think I'm done till the 25th when it will be a few days of one group of family after the other, and BFs family. Will be fun but I'm sure by the end of this week I'll be pooped!
