Invitations have to match colors?

Do my invitations have to match my wedding's colors? I sort of fell in love with ones that are purple while my wedding colors are nowhere near purple (navy & coral). Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

    Not at all. Our colors were champagne and coral, and our invitations were pink and black.
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Definitely don't have to match - some people say the invitation sets the "tone" for your wedding so it should match your colors/theme/feel of your wedding but if you found one you love that doesn't match your colors go for it! It's your day, the only rules that should apply are your own. 

    And good call on ordering a sample, I ordered samples from a ton of different sites (Minted, Wedding Paper Divas, The American Wedding, Vistaprint) and thought I'd like a ton of them. I ended up only liking a few! It's good to see something in person before you drop a couple hundred dollars on ordering it :)
