Handfasting Ceremony in a Pub - Small, Intimate, and Cost Effective

Both my fiance and I were adamant that we did not want a traditional church wedding and walk down the aisle; and,  we also did not want to have a wedding that was based on everyone else's wants and needs instead of our own. We decided to have an intimate wedding with only immediate family and close friends. We decided to have our handfasting wedding at a pub.

Part of my job involves booking business meetings and planning conferences and I knew that most pubs and restaurants would be happy to accommodate a wedding party; but I wasn't sure if we would find a spot who would accommodate having the actual wedding on site, as well.

After some discussion and research, we visited a pub that had responded to our email about having our ceremony and reception at their establishment.
Our location has three stories and we were able to book the 2nd floor - their loft - with room for up to 45 guests for a sit - down dinner, or 85 guests for a cocktail reception.  There is a minimum spend of $2000 if you have less than 50 guests; or, no minimum spend with more than 50 guests.  The staff is very excited to be having an actual wedding on site, as well!

We booked the site immediately once we viewed the room and had dinner there with two of our closest friends. The food was amazing and the space had the perfect celtic ambiance that we were looking for.

The advantages of booking the pub are many:

The pub will let us decorate at any time during the day of the wedding.
The staff were just as excited as we were to be having a wedding on site.
We are supporting a smaller business in our community.
It is cost effective and will allow us to have the more intimate wedding we want.

Many restaurants and pubs have private rooms or bookable space and would love your business!  This is a great alternative to booking a wedding venue for those looking for something out of the ordinary and with a personal touch.
