Destination Wedding or Not?

My fiance and I moved to Chicago two months after we got engaged. Both of our families live all over the states so we wanted to have it on our turf. It's not a destination for us but for everyone else it is. Does that count as a destination wedding? Should I send out the save the dates earlier than for a regular wedding? Thanks!

    That is technically not a destination wedding. Follow the etiquette used for traditional weddings- STDs sent to guests 8-12 months in advance and then invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding. Be sure that you send STDs to people that you are 100% sure you are inviting to the wedding. It is impolite to send STDs to people and then not send them a formal invitation. If there is any doubt, just send STDs to VIP guests.
