Maui Snorkelling (XP)

We are headed to Maui for our DW in less than 3 months.  We are starting to look at booking some excursions and snorkelling is something we are both really interested in.  Can anyone recommend a certain company they were happy with?  Cheers!

Re: Maui Snorkelling (XP)

  • There are tons of snorkeling companies that will take you out to Molokini. You'll be fine to just wait and book once you're on island. There is an amazing cove just south of Makena (Big Beach) that is open to the public. We had our wedding on the property just past (@ The Sugarman Estate). Personally, I think the snorkeling in the cove is a "better" experience, first because it's free, second because there is a very shallow rock entry that has tons of fish, you can go out a little deeper and see turtles etc. And third because it's a more "authentic" experience.  On the way back to town, there's usually (and I say "usually" having not been on island for 2 years, so I could be wrong) a Jaws Taco truck that's always delish.

  • Awesome.  Thanks
  • My fiancé and i were both unimpressed with the snorlkling at molokini but maybe we just caught it on an off day or are too spoiled with better experiences. There are so many boats and therefore people there that i didn't find it overly peaceful or enjoyable. I've heard the spot at makena Is awesome and will definitely be checking it out when we are back for our wedding this summer. Black rock has amazing snorlkling. Massive turtles and so many fish. I could have spent all day in the water. Definitely check it out.
