Wedding Woes

apparently unless faculty or students show up, they're not bothering with heat

sheesh.  I'm wearing a sweater over my sweater.
I'm sure it's ON, but it's getting a bit absurd.

I'd go down and complain but it's the first day of the NEW interim boss and I'd rather not be a PITA the first day.
Esp. since he's meeting w/ formerboss to get up to speed and I'd have to interrupt.

Re: apparently unless faculty or students show up, they're not bothering with heat

  • (also, the fact that the actual temp. outside is 5 degrees AND the fact that I'm grumpy AND the fact that the building was closed up for break until today?  probably all factors)
  • That was me this morning, but I have a illegal heater under my desk.

  • I have the illegal fridge, so I nixed the illegal heater.
I may have to find said illegal heater.
  • Bunsen burner???

  • Chances are that they rely quite a bit on "Kinetic Heat" (i.e. body heat) to make the building actually warm.  Very few realize this about places like the Mall of America that it doesn't actually have a heating system!

Time to pull out the candles and indoor jacket!  Good luck!!!

  • I totally could do the bunsen burner thing.  But I'd have to move all my paperwork to a lab w/ gas...and I can't because the cart to move my stuff with is on the first floor, I'm on the 3rd, and the elevator is being rehabbed and is lying in the basement in bits right now.
(Also, would have been nice to know, since I have boxes o' stuff on 3 floors right now that I can't file correctly--if they would have TOLD me they elevator was going to be down, I'd have planned differently)

I do wish we had more bodies to warm things up today, but I have seen 10 people total today, and 3 of them were people working on the elevator and 1 was the guy I was interviewing.

But I got a lot of crap done!
  • I was on 2 conference calls with my teams in MI today and they were saying how cold it is. (They were unimpressed by our 35 deg in TX.) Try to stay warm!
