I had a few questions about what other people have done, we are having a private ceremony with just our parents out of state but decided we wanted to have a party to celebrate when we get back home. For the invitations I want to send them out before the wedding happens since the reception type party will be occuring two weeks after we get back. Everything I am finding online is worded after the couple is already married. Do you guys have any suggestions? Also should I send out save the dates since we would like everyone to come if they can? Thank you!

    It is usually proper to wait to have the AHR several weeks after the wedding, as this allows the couple to send a wedding announcement, annoucing they are now married, followed by an invitation to a "celebration of their marriage". You should not send out save the dates. Also, what if you end up having an emergency or something happens that you have to move your wedding date? You don't want to have a celebration for a wedding that did not occur. Hence, why people typically wait to plan something further out from the wedding date.
