Ha, I'm at that stage right now. I hit it right before the holidays, when the quote from the florist gave me a mini heart attack. I was like screw this, Ill continue in January. And now I'm all Eff it. For the major vendors we just have the officiant and florist left. I have been trying to focus on the honeymoon, though.

I do have to get back into it, though. The wedding is also in May. I guess I can shoot an email to the other 2 florists later on today.
Be productive so I feel like I need to be, please.

Honeymoon. I can work on that too! That's fun stuff.

Seriously, hearing all of you ladies who are planning weddings in the same month have things left to do is helping big time.
Okay, this thread has inspired me! I just emailed the other 2 florists that we can work with, and crunched some numbers to lower the costs on the first florist. I feel productive now lol.

I am in a weird don't give a shit/holy shit I have SO much to do tornado.

FI's nieces are our flower girls and they're in the Disney princess stage. He mentioned them wearing their princess dresses in the wedding. I OK'ed it. That's where I'm at.
LOL H's niece wanted to wear her Princess Elsa dress in our wedding. I would have told her yes but her mom kindly vetoed it for me.

Funny since the only stipulation I gave the mom was "anything but white" (because I think mini brides are kreepy) but that's what she ended up with. Would have preferred the Elsa dress. Oh well.

  • @maeday2 I used to work at a hotel in the sales department helping get the weddings handled. I told every panicked bride the same thing, if nothing catches fire and the officiant is mostly sober, it's a good wedding. So I just keep telling myself that. No fires, mostly sober officiant.

Plusalso, my FI has been daydreaming about his wedding since he was a kid. I'm letting him run this show.

The Elsa dress totally would've gone with your wedding.

I think we're gonna skip flower girls/ring bearers. Neither of us have nieces/nephews or young kids we're really close with that are not infants. But if we did have them, I'd be down with a princess dress for them.
  • We're skipping ring bearers/flower girls as well.  I have a niece that is the right age, but FI and I are older and crankier and watching them run around like crazy at my sister's wedding just solidified our decision to not have kids in our wedding.  AT our wedding, yes, but not IN the wedding.

  • FI and I think the princess dresses would be hilarious/adorable. FMIL and my own mother think otherwise. Fun police.

I'm with you @lolo883 on the mini brides being creepy. That's probably the only input I'll give on their dresses - no mini wedding gowns.

I am only having my sister as my MOH and she has full authority over what color/style she wants. Three and four year old girls should have the same kind of autonomy and get princess dresses.

  • Our day is May 8 and I'm sort of just now getting back into doing things again. We've been planning since July and got all of the big stuff (& some little stuff) out of the way really early on - like 2 months after we were engaged. Ceremony + reception venue/catering, DJ, officiant, photographer, florist, baker, all attire chosen/dress deposit paid, honeymoon details planned.
So I basically didn't have to do anything from September until late November when we ordered invites. I'm currently working on addressing them and I'll try to figure out the postage situation this week. But we got so much done early on that it makes me feel like I've been slacking lately, when I'm sure in reality we're doing just fine.

I think the only DIY I'll do is table numbers (maybe) and escort cards. Maybe some welcome bags for his out of town family. But I'm absolutely adopting the "fuck that" attitude about certain things. No grand exit, not renting a cool car to drive off in, probably cutting out programs, and thanks to this thread, the cake cutting set. Not important.

  • I'm with you @dallasbetch

The only reason we have a cake cutting set is because it was a gift. Engraved and all that jazz. I had planned on borrowing one from my cousin. We're ditching a grand exit, fancy car, and programs too.

We are doing welcome bags. I forgot about those.

I do need to figure out shoes, undergarments, and accessories though before my first fitting.

  • Oooh the fancy car might be a thing we do. My sister has an Audi TT, and FI's dad has a Camaro convertible. I can get behind a fancy getaway car, even if all we get to do is drive around a parking lot or something.

  • @maeday2‌ ahh yes. I do need to figure out what to wear under my dress. I'm leaning towards wearing shapewear so I can feel put together but I can't decide whether to have cups sewn in or just wear a strapless bra... I guess I need to do some lurking.

  • I was over wedding planning almost immediately. We got engaged in mid-October, and started trying to figure out WHERE to have the wedding, and that was pretty much it for me. We lived two hours away from each other for our whole relationship. Having it in either of our cities would mean the other half of the guest list may or may not be able to come.

Meeting in the middle wasn't really an option either, since there are just a bunch of little towns with very few options.

So yeah, I said "fuck it" almost immediately. Now since we're going to NOLA, the photographer is my only vendor to worry about, and since we're not having any guests, that massively simplifies the planning. I found my dress at Marshall's and shoes at DSW, both by accident when browsing through their clearance stuff. Got some Kate Spade earrings on eBay. Mister already has a blue suit, but I think he wants to get new shoes. All I really have left to do is book a room somewhere and find a bouquet the morning of the wedding, which should be simple enough since, really, IDGAF what it even looks like. Flower-type flowers are perfect. Then I can just pull one of them out and pin it to my mister, and we're done!
  • Our venue is a winery.

The only DIY thing I'm doing is making a giant initial for our last name out of corks to display on the head table or the table at the entrance.  As you can see, we're slacking on drinking, so we've got some work to do here.

Otherwise, our card box will be a mini wine barrel with our name and date engraved, and this likely will also be where guests sign so we can display it at home later.   Hopefully it should end up something like this one.

  • @monobride2015. - we are getting married in May, in Sonoma! I love the wine barrel idea for a card box. Where did you find it??

Ditto. I'm at a loss here. I am limited with shapewear since the back is so low on my gown. But I agree it does make you feel more put together. That way, when I eat and drink everything I can pooch it out and it won't matter.

They offered to sew in cups and I think I'll go that route. The top of my dress needs to be taken up already so I think I'll still get a strapless bra to get the girls where I want them to be.

My only goal for my wedding day (aside from getting married to FI, duh!) is not to see anyone throw up. If I can get all the way through it without that happening, I'll be golden. (some of the groomsmen are big drinkers, I'm convinced that one of them will puke on my dress during the ceremony. Why? No idea.)

We haven't ordered one yet, but there's a couple of websites we're looking at - I think we'll have to cut the slot ourselves once we order the barrel, but there's also some Etsy sites that will do it for you too, just be prepared to pay a premium for pre-made ones for weddings - they know they've got you over a "barrel", lol.

  • @esstee33 You are the coolest. That plan sounds badass and stress free.

Can I recommend Hotel Monteleone? I know NOLA gets a wrap for being a party town, but this classy hotel is honestly one of my favorite spots anywhere. The carousel bar is a must, the rooftop pool is equally awesome, and the view from the rooftop is stunning of the city. You're centrally located to amazing restaurants and bars. It's a splurge I'd go for. It's a perfect juxtaposition that this enchanting hotel is in the French Quarter.

We got a mini oak barrell from here: http://store.tuthilltown.com/barrels.html

We're actually using ours to make barrel-aged cocktails (delicious!) but these guys had good customer service and it shipped pretty fast. I'm not sure if you can customize, though.

  • I haven't hit that stage yet; we'll see if I do.  I wasn't all "giddyup" on a big wedding anyway, and we have a planner who tells me when to do shit, so I don't give a fuck about something until she says it's time to give a fuck about it.

So, at this point, I'm not overwhelmed, and planning isn't the only thing I've had on my mind- I think those are things that can contribute to giving zero fucks- hence no issues yet.

Good luck; I hope you find the energy soon (assuming you want to).

I'll definitely check it out!! We found a bunch of really interesting homes on homeaway.com that we've been leaning towards, just because we're going to have some "getting ready" shots taken and we'd like to have a cool-looking place for those. Ideally I'd like to find a shotgun house to rent because when else will I be able to stay in one??

How New Orleans of you! I would probably go that route, too. Good news is you can still hit up their bar and rooftop without staying there. Best of both worlds.

  • Started with 2 full years and now I have 9 months to go. Did every little thing I could early last year, and then took a looong break this summer, fall, holidays...

Told myself I need to start getting my act together. Guest addresses, save the dates, wedding party attire, booking officiant, scheduling tasting, etc. UGH. But actually once I did one thing, I got kind of a rush of excitement and couldn't wait to do the next thing, and so on and so on. I know I had a huge case of the idon'twannas, but once I actually set aside the time to do whatever I needed to do, it was fun and fine.

    GL!

  • We got engaged last August and are getting married this August.  I feel like we've been planning FOREVER.  I realized I was in the screw-it stage the day before yesterday when the planner asked if I wanted to meet with some florists, and I just was fresh out of fucks to give.  Good luck to the rest of you in this stage!  I hope to find my fucks to give soon.

Heard that. If you find your fucks, let me know where so I can pick some up too.

This thread had me all empowered to get stuff done. It also made me want to hide under my desk.

I got nothing done yesterday. YAY
