Did y'all here about our earthquakes?

I'm sitting on the sofa talking on the phone and all of a sudden the whole house felt like it moved. At first I thought it was the wind, but it was too strong to be the wind. I turned on the news and they said it was a earthquake. We had 8 small ones in one day. Weird.

Re: Did y'all here about our earthquakes?

  • I felt an earthquake once. I thought I had a brain tumor or something at first, but then figured out it was an earthquake. Everyone thought I was cray-cray until they turned on the news and I was right.

I am all conspiracy theory, but I feel like it's all related to fracking and oil drilling and all that nonsense. That's my crazy showing through.
  • It's not conspiracy theory, PMeg.  There's statistically significant evidence pointing towards earthquakes in Oklahoma being caused by fracking.  It's pretty much a confirmed cause.

Where NOLA is, IDK if that's true or not.
  • Yeah, I heard about Ohio I believe. I say conspiracy (and I use that loosely I guess) because I have an uncle who is an engineer in the oil/gas industry and he's all "fracking is totes safe!"
  • Huh.  He'd be interesting to talk to, just b/c I want to know what he would say re: the water contamination issue.  I guess the process itself is "safe", it's the byproducts of the process that seem to be the issue.
  • Earthquakes are crazy.  I was asleep the last time we had one. It was the craziest thing.  I had no idea what to think...Until DH called and was all, "Did you feel the earthquake?!"  There were a few aftershocks too.  I got up to leave my desk at work when an aftershock hit and almost threw me into a wall.

We get IRL earthquakes here.  There's a fault line right through our state.

I've not heard the theories/reports about the fracking stuff, but that doesn't surprise me.
