Ok does this seem inappropriate to anyone else?

So something just popped up on my FB news feed: one of my friends had her baby! Yay! We posted some pics... One of which must have been SHORTLY after the birth because the baby is still all goopy and bloody.

So, granted, I don't really find babies to be all that cute anyway and tons of things about childbirth make me feel uncomfortable (I don't even really like breastfeeding pictures...). So I am being overly touchy or is this a little bit of an overshare to anyone else?

By all means, post pictures of your newborn baby, but can you at least wait until they wipe him off?

I hate that stuff. I have several Facebook friends who are the midwife-ing, doula-ing, extended-breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, cloth-diapering, home-birthing type, and I love them and think it's great they're so passionate about their parenting/baby-having styles...but I could very, very happily continue life never having to see another wrinkled, slimy newborn on a naked lady in a bloody inflatable pool. I just...nope.

My mom used to watch that show "Operation" on (I think) TLC, where they just showed actual surgery, and I felt the same way. I don't like gore no matter why it's there.

Ugh. Yeah, that's a little much. I like seeing newborn pictures and all but my god, no one wants to see your baby before he/she's been wiped off! Same with the "in the middle of giving birth" pictures. No one wants to see that. Keep it to yourself.

Noooooope that's gross. I can't imagine what FI is going to be like when/if I give birth because he's seriously grossed out by all that stuff. He can barely handle seeing blood, much less everything else that comes with it. 

I also don't like seeing people post pictures of newborns with their mom's naked breasts beside them. New mom or not, I don't need to see your boobs on facebook.

My friend's dipshit ex-H uploaded all the hospital baby pics onto his facebook when their oldest was born. Took a picture of her little inked feet from below.

She didn't have a fucking diaper on, or anything. Put it right up on facebook. Got annoyed when people suggested he crop it or take it down. Imbecile.

It doesn't bother me, but I can still definitely see how it would fit very tidily into the TMI category.

I have always said that if I had a kid that I want it cleaned up, wrapped in a blanket, with the typical hat on before I start cuddling with it.  Yes, I know kids throw up and poop and pee and all that jazz, but there is something about holding onto a baby covered with my inside juices that icks me out.

So yeah, a picture of someone else's kid covered in their juices icks me out.

Ok, so it's not just me being a prude or something. Good to know. Because all of her friends are commenting like "CONGRATS! OMG SO CUTE!" etc etc.

I'll probably just leave it at a "like".

I agree that those pics are gross.

Natural and "a part of nature" and gross are NOT mutually exclusive.  A lot of our bodily funcrtions and what not are just gross.

It wouldn't bother me, I've seen way worse on FB but then again when I was pregnant I watched "A Baby Story" every morning for about 6 months so I'm totally desensitized to that stuff.

Surgery is really cool to me.  I'm not really bothered by that at all.  But some plastic surgery procedures make me go "OMFG that's how they do that, gaaaaaaah!"

Exactly.  It would be like posting babies first poop or your own vomit that landed in the toilet because you are sick or hungover.  Completely natural but not something that should be posted on social media.

And yet, in a weirder than weird logic I will never understand, in every picture, her husband is holding a neat little square of clean gauze over her asshole. Because they're maintaining some effed up standard of modesty? Because they want to shield our eyes from anything gross?

This doesn't bother me at all. But generally FB doesn't- I just hide updates from anyone who posts stuff I don't want to see and move on. I figure there are so many different standards of appropriate that it's not worth being bothered when something doesn't meet mine.
