So it's gotten a little heated on CC lately (which is totally fine, just observing), so I thought it would be fun to have a mindless thread. Also, everyone knows I am obsessed with y'all and food, so there's that. What is your go to snack?

 

Recently, I have been loving sliced apples topped with almond butter and a slice of cheddar. SO GOOD! Your turn.

  • Homemade trail mix.  Cashews, pecans, dried cranberries, and dark chocolate.  I always say I'm just going to have one handful, and it usually becomes 3 or 4.
  • I'm going through a hummus phase recently: with chips, with pita, with veggies, with a spoon.

    Also Wheat Thins for some reason.
  • I only get raw vegetables now because my wedding is four months away and my chest is currently trying to escape out the top of my dress because I ate too much in December. My boobs need to deflate before I'm allowed to eat food again.

    Ordinarily, though, I am pretty into melons with a tiny bit of salt and chili powder, roasted bell peppers with goat cheese and basil leaves and balsamic glaze, pretzels dipped in hummus, and these knockoff Goldfish my grocery store sells (they're penguins, actually) also dipped in goat cheese. I am also known to make a single cookie for myself if I'm craving sugar, which FI and our roommate inform me is equal parts cute and sad, like a puppy with a broken leg.

    I love hummus with any vegetable for a healthy snack and Smartfood for an unhealthy one!

    ETA: And Snapea Crisps! Has anyone had these? I'm addicted.

    I'm boring. But, I also know that snacks during work hours are such a tempting thing so I only keep a massive bag of natural almonds in my desk. 

    Sometimes it's a force feed thing, other times I love them. 

    ETA: By massive, I mean a 3 lb. bag which is the equivalent of 9 cups. I just checked.

  • Cherry tomatoes for days. I go through those things by the pint.

    Baby carrots by themselves or with hummus.

    Clementine oranges.

    Hummus and pita chips - but it's too easy for me to go overboard on the pita chips here so I try to avoid that as a snack.

    Salsa and those pumpkin seed chips from Costco when they are available.

    You're really not, I promise, I'm a 28FF so they can be seen from space at this point. It's more Dolly Parton than Kate Upton, lol.

    Sometimes I can hide them, like in my profile pic where they look totally normal sized, but mostly they're just horrifying. My FMIL will probably pass out if I turn up for my wedding at my current weight.

  • Depends on what I am craving, salt or sweet.

    Salt - tortillas with queso

    Sweet - a fudgey brownie

    When I am at work I keep zero food around and whenever I feel the urge to eat I suck down water (so basically I am peeing a lot).  Food at work would just be bad news.  I already eat enough at home.  If I brought food to work with me then I would be the size of a professional grade refrigerator.

    I also like hummus and carrots/celery, sharp cheddar cheese, and baby bell swiss cheese light wedges with crackers.  As far unhealthy snacks go, I loooooveeee cheezits and those peanut butter cracker things from Ritz.

    I also have a strict no-eating-at-work policy because the mindless stuff is always my downfall. I can suck down five hundred calories in like ten minutes if I'm passing by the snacks too often.

  • My go to bad snack is Hot Cheetos. Now that they have made Extra Hot Cheetos I have to avoid the chip aisle at the grocery store.

  • If I'm being honest my favorite snack is Brownie Brittle.

    I've never actually eaten it. DH won't let me buy when we go to Costco...but I just know it would be 100% my absolutely favorite snack, beating out all others...if only I could get my hands on some.

    My clothes will love me for it later...I just know it.

  • Chips and guac, celery and hummus, cheeze-its. Apparently crunchy is important to me. 

    I also have to stop myself from eating an ice cream sandwich and huge glass of milk before bed evert night.

    I feel your pain- 32I here...  Have to buy my bras at fancy lingerie stores to find anything that actually fits.  No VS or running into a department / big box store for us...

  • The only food I keep at work is a box of oatmeal packets (in case I'm starving in the morning) and a box of Kind bars. I'm like Maggie, if I have snacky stuff at my desk, it WILL be eaten and is therefore not allowed. 

    Generally though, my snacks are yogurt, fruit, nuts and a smoothie. Right now I'm obsessed with my magic bullet, so I'm making smoothies in the morning and then having them later in the day. I can't snack on junky stuff - it makes me feel like garbage. I used to snack on Easy Mac (ZOMG SO GOOD!!) all the time, but I'm old and can't stomach that shit anymore.

  • I have had a serious popcorn addiction since I was a pre-teen! But only a certain kind- it must be Orville Redenbackers kernals that I pop on the stove in oil. Then add salt. I won't do microwave or generic brand crap. But for real, I've eaten this 6 days a week since I was in high school. I crave it every night and sometimes have it just for dinner. My pan is perfectly seasoned and God help you if you if you wash it (old roommates).

  • Anything crunchy and, let's face it, not healthy for me. I'm trying to avoid junk food for the month of January to develop better habits but all I can hear are the cheez-its calling my name from the vending machine. And after reading this thread I want chips and salsa for dinner tonight. Mmmmmm....

    @lovegood90 Yes to the Snapea Crisps! I've had the "Inner Peas" from Trader Joe's and have to stop myself from inhaling the whole bag!  And YES to Smartfood White Cheddar popcorn!

    Otherwise, chips & guac/salsa/queso, Cheez-its, anything with hummus... for something sweet, basically anything covered in chocolate from Trader Joe's.

    Ooh and these almonds are super yummy!

    Haha, everytime I buy them I eat the whole bag! I'm lucky they're only sold at specialty stores out of the way!

  • If I'm being healthy, celery and peanut butter. Tastes good and keeps me full!

    If I'm NOT being healthy, "puppy chow". Chocolate, peanut butter, powdered sugar...what's not to love?!

  • I don't really snack since I eat almost a full meal every 2-3 hours. However, for times when I can't do that (like while traveling), I like raw almonds or carrot sticks. If I'm having a bad day, some good, dark chocolate makes it better.
