Big Mens Beach Wedding Attire

My FI and I are planning a beach wedding in Mexico.  He is not a dress up kind of guy...he wears wranglers, boots, and t-shirts most days as he works out in the fields getting dirty.  He says that he will wear whatever I think will look best.  I want him to look good, but most of all be comfortable.  To make it more challenging, he's a big guy (size 3xl shirts).  Maybe tan pants and white shirt..not sure what kind of shirt...maybe with a vest?  Are Hawaiian print shirts a no-no in Mexico?  Ideas?  Where to shop?  Pictures that you can share?

Re: Big Mens Beach Wedding Attire

  • They groom should match the formality of the bride. If you're going to wear a simple, beachy dress then he can easily wear just some slacks (tan or gray is good for summer weddings) and a white shirt and nice shoes. If you're going to wear a short dress, then he can go even more casual and maybe do a Hawaiian type of shirt and sandals with his pants.

If you're going to wear a more traditional gown then he should at least wear a tie and probably a vest, if not a full suit (in a light, summer color). If you're going to wear a more formal and/or binged out gown, he should be in a tux.
  • I just saw a picture of a look I think I like....light grey dress pants and matching vest with a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up.  Casual and comfortable enough with no tie or jacket, but sharp enough that he'll match my dress.

Still open to other suggestions though!

  • I am getting married on a beach in Hawaii in June. I will be wearing a long, white, fitted bridal gown: simple and strapless with a beaded overlay that has some sheen. We will both be barefoot. My fiance is very casual and we plan to have him wear tan trousers (something nicer than basic khakis) and a long sleeved white linen shirt with some detailing (pleating or white on white embroidery).

If you look on sites like Pinterest for keywords like "beach wedding" you can find lots of inspiration for attire. I agree with previous posters that you will want to try to keep your attire in the same level of formality as your fiances. If you want to wear a ball gown, it might be better for your groom to wear a suit. I think your instincts to try to find something your fiance will be comfortable in is the right way to go. You both should feel your best on your wedding.

These are some pictures that were inspirational for me.
