WTF, SO?

Re: WTF, SO?

  • H takes everything off in one fell swoop. So if it's been cold, his pants still contain his long johns, his socks, and his underwear, and I'm expected to pull it all apart. And he leaves paper and change in his pockets. It drives me up a WALL.
OMG layered long sleeved shirt that are hopelessly stuck together with static cling :rage:

  • Fi has this amazing ability to completely look past clutter.  He'll tell me the apartment is clean and I'll get home and there's a trail of his work clothes on the floor, some of my shit lying around like extra handbags, the recycling needs to be taken out, and the cat box has not been scooped yet today.  NO!  This is not clean!  We just have very different definitions of "clean."

The main thing he does though that drives me nuts, is he'll start doing something helpful and then leave a mess behind him.  He starts to iron clothes, but he leaves out the ironing board with the cord trailing across the room.  He vacuums the living room, but leaves the vacuum out... with the cord trailing across the room.  He does laundry, but leaves the folded clothes on the couch.  I try to be patient because he's helping.... but seriously dude?  Put the damn vacuum away!
H is the same way. His version of clean is....not the same as mine.

I shouldn't complain, because he is generally very neat, but I am way neater. His inability to see the toothpaste crusted in his bathroom sink baffles me, though.

  • H and I have shared a toothbrush before. It wasn't a, "Hey, you  know what would be really cool! If we shared a toothbrush" kind of thing. More like, "Oh shit, I forgot my toothbrush" kind of thing.

    image

  • We're the gross weirdos, because we will totally share a toothbrush. We don't do it on purpose, but have if one of us has forgotten it.
Yeah, it's just a toothbrush.  I've lent mine to DH before when we were out of town and he forgot his.  The germs on the toothbrush are the exact same you are swapping back and forth when you are making out.

To me, the act of having sex is far more gross than sharing a toothbrush, lol.

I HATE sharing a toothbrush but we have done it out of desperation. It makes my skin crawl though. Definitely a last resort. Why the hell is it so easy to forget to bring a toothbrush anyway?

Not gross, but DH keeps putting things in the fridge that shouldn't be in there. Like homemade biscuits (ew they get all stale and weird) and PEANUT BUTTER.
Growing up, we always kept our in a cupboard, but now, once the jar is open, I store it in the fridge and take it out a few hours before I'm going to use it so it's easier to spread.

Oils can go rancid pretty quickly (PB is usually good for about 2-3 months out of the fridge and opened) so storing them in the fridge can pro-long the life of the food.

@feeleytobe Wait- you don't eat the large 32oz jar weekly? We do.....

We've done the toothbrush thing a few times when one of us forget theirs. Really don't get what's so gross about it. I put balls and jizz in my mouth, pretty sure his toothbrush is not any worse.

Dude I will suck the part of your body that piss comes out of, I will even tongue kiss you, but don't you dare asked to use my toothbrush.

Each to their own, but I do have chuckle at where the lines are drawn.
    Exactly, lol.

There's just something about using the same object that's used to scrape off plaque and bacteria from your teeth that skeeves me out.  I mean, yeah, I kiss him, but I'm not scraping off plaque with my tongue when I do it.

ETA: I know that we're still exchanging bacteria when we kiss.  Maybe it's just mental, but I can't make myself share the toothbrush.

Welp. When you put it that way...

But really, I agree with you. It's seems like such a bizarre boundry to me.

You're still getting the bacteria that's sloughing off and around in his mouth into yours. . . so basically same thing as using the toothbrush.

In fact, if your tongues are tangoing then you are scraping bacteria off because that's where most of the bacteria in our mouths lives, as far as I know.  Our dental hygenist can correct me if I'm wrong.

  • and maybe but it's just me but if my DH forgets his toothbrush I would rather him use mine than run around with bad breath.    We can always stop by the store to get 2 new ones later.

  • My FI has this uncanny ability to get his hands dirty eating anything. I swear I don't know how it happens. But then he drinks out of his water glass he keeps by the bed and I swear every damn night when I go to wash/replace the glass, there are like food fingerprints all over it.

I have no idea why this grosses me out to the extent that it does!

  • We have steripod covers on our toothbrushes so we are pretty protective of our toothbrushes, and definitely will not share them under any circumstances.

Ugh my ex had the same issue. I have no idea how it happened but he'd get a new glass for water, not eat anything, and the glass would be disgusting by the time he was done drinking. I was constantly thinking "why the fuck are your hands so dirty all the time?!"

I guess a toothbrush just seems so much more aggressive at doing it, and then even if you rinse it off it just sits there and lets the bacteria grow.  At least there is some kind of a balance between healthy bacteria and harmful bacteria in our bodies.  Like I said, it might just be mental.  I don't know if it's actually bad for you, like sharing eye makeup is with other people.

I think the bacteria in our mouths are pretty much all the "bad" kind.  The "good" flora tend to be more in our guts and other areas.

I never got a nasty infection or anything from kissing DH or that time when he had to use my toothbrush ;-)  But I'm with you in that I will not share mascara with people.  I have lent very close friends/family eyeshadow before, but we all use brushes and regularly clean them.  Still probably risky though.

For real, it's a total mystery. I mean, he uses utensils and everything.

But it's my bacteria.  lol.  I know, it makes no sense.  I also have one of those anti-germ UV lights for my toothbrush.  Like I said, it's probably all just mental.

I think that's a great idea, actually.  This topic reminds me I should get a new toothbrush as it's about that time.

I won a Sonicare toothbrush from work this Christmas.  I was so excited.

Ha ha- love the gif!  No.  When I open a jar (smaller) I usually go through it in a week or two at the most, but ever since I started buying natural / organic nut butters, I've stored them in the fridge because I found that it also seems to prevent the oil from separating as much as when it's on the shelf.

I do love PB, but I don't go through it as quickly as it seems you do.
  • To those who have electronic toothbrushes, is it worth it?  Do your teeth feel cleaner? I've always been curious.

No, my mouth never felt any cleaner.  But the dental hygienist and dentist claim that they do a better job at cleaning.  I never got to test that theory because I lost my charging dock in between cleaning appointments and not very long after I had started using it ><

I like my Sonicare better than the regular electric toothbrush that I used to have, and I liked the regular electric one better than a normal toothbrush.  But I don't feel like the difference is drastic.  My dentist was always bugging me to get a Sonicare though.

I have a coworker (that sits directly in fromt of me) who bites her nails and tosses them on the floor behind her chair. I found one on my desk once. HORRRRKKK.
