Just want to brag on the GMs. FI and I are looking for ties for all of them (NOT as their gift, but because they live all over the country, literally from coast to coast, so I thought it might be tricky for them all to find coordinating stuff. They're picking their own suits and whatnot but we thought it would be cool if their ties at least kind of matched each other). We found a really cool one with subtle floral pattern on it, and it's pink. It was really awesome though. FI even liked it, and he doesn't normally like that kind of stuff. Ultimately we've decided to go pick out fabric (my mom and I are going to pick it out next weekend) and then my mom is going to make the ties because she's a super talented sewer and was excited to be involved. The ones we liked online were, of course, $70 each, and with 6 groomsmen and still needing to buy their actual gifts, that's just way out of budget for us.
But since I liked the floral pattern so much, and floral patterns are typically girly, I thought I'd run it past the GMs first so see if this was even a type of fabric I should be considering. So I sent them all a message about it.
One of them replied right away and seemed really surprised we were getting them all ties. I thought "Uh oh, maybe he already got a tie, or maybe he wants to just pick his own..." I just automatically assumed that he was unhappy. But when I explained that it was just something we wanted to do for them, he was like "Wow I get to pick my own suit AND I get a tie? Holy shit you guys are so awesome!"
Another one just sent me a message to say he's fine with anything we pick out. He said "It's your day, and I'll do whatever you want me to do. Let me know if there's anything I can help with!" Aaaaw! That's so nice!
Not that I expected a bunch of negativity from these guys, cuz they're all really wonderful guys. But it just made me smile that they were being so great about it!
