Adventure Travel for Foodies

Not booking my honeymoon or even thinking about it yet but I spent a lot of time traveling to places I never thought to go this last year and wanted to throw out a less conventional idea if anyone is looking!

I spent a month and a half in Singapore, not usually on people's radar but it was FANTASTIC! You get a lot of the Asian culture in an english speaking country and I still miss the food! If you love to eat and are open to lots of different kinds of food this is the melting pot of Asia and gets influences from everywhere.. the country is super safe, cheap and easy to get around (cleanest subway I have EVER seen), and they have these great food markets where you can get full fresh cooked dinners for around $3/person. Tons of activities too, Sentosa was a blast (island off Singapore) with beautiful beaches, theme parks, and more FOOD! It's the best of all worlds.. bustling city, more shopping than you could imagine, beaches, food, nightlife, relaxation.

Just notice a lot of Hawaii/Mexico ideas and I wanted to throw in an off the beaten path idea for anyone looking for a different kind of adventure!

  • It sounds like a great vacation but I'm not sure I'd classify Singapore as "adventure travel"...it's a big city and very urban and developed. Sounds fun though!

Yes, fair.. I don't mean adventure in the "climb mt. Everest" adventure.. I mean big city, culture, food adventure. A lot of people look at an all inclusive lay on the beach resort, this is just an option for people who are more adventurous with culture and locations that want something a little different.. just giving other ideas

  • I only stated it because it's not really the commonly accepted idea of adventure travel and I wouldn't want anyone to be misled. Generally, adventure travel refers to off-the-beaten-path travel in developing countries and/or travel involving adrenaline sports, trekking etc., not big cities with world-class amenities, you know? Not trying to pick a fight, just don't want anyone who might be reading this to be confused.
