Invitation Wording Help

Mr. Brides dad

requests the honor of your presence

at the marriage of his daughter

Bride

To

Groom

son of Mr. Grooms Step dad and Grooms mom

Mr. Grooms dad

on Saturday, the sixteenth of May

two thousand fifteen

at half after three

Church

Street Address

City, State
I am just wondering if this is the correct way to word the invitation? My mom passed in June so that is why my dad's name would be alone.  My fiance's parents are divorced and his mom is remarried. My fiance is also the 3rd and his dad is junior. Thank you for all your advice.

Who is hosting your wedding? Is it just your dad? In that case, I *think* it would read:

    Mr. Bluefinn790
requests the honour of your presence
at the marriage of his daughter

    Bridefirstname Middlename
    to
Mr. Groomfirstname Middlename Lastname, III (or, if he has a different title, use that title)

    Saturday, the sixteenth of May
    two thousand fifteen
    at half after three o'clock

    Church Name
City, State (but omit the zipcode!)

ETA: I didn't initially see that you said your FI is the third, so I added that to the format!

  • The groom's parents are not normally on the invitation unless they are hosting your wedding.  Then they would appear at the top under your parents' names.  The invitation is a simple message from the hosts to the guests, telling them who, what, when and where.  It is not a place to list family members.
    Crackkthesky's wording is correct.

@CMGragain - are you posting from Asia? How's the vacation going?

  • Yes.  The ship is in Singapore harbour today.  I just emailed my kids.  Lovely ship with lots of chocolate desserts!  Yay!

  • Thank you for thinking of us on your vacation.

Are you on one of the Princess ships?
