Question About Minimums

I feel like this is a dumb question but, are the minimums (for a reception space) typically BEFORE or AFTER taxes? I'm thinking BEFORE taxes but I want to make sure because I'm struggling to meet my minimum.

Before. So it's your minimum + roughly 30% for tax & gratuity.
  • If your happy to pay the minimum for the space - I wouldn't worry about struggling to meet the minimum, they will just charge you the difference between what you've spent and what the minimum is (or at least from my discussions). Also the restaurant I'm holding my reception at are making my wedding cake which counts towards the minimum and also working with me to meet the minimum in terms of having a champagne toast and upgrading drinks etc.

If the minimum is within your budget and you want to hold your party at a particular space - I'm sure they will work with you to make the most out of your money.
  • Thank you both so much!
  • Yep definitely investigate the cake aspect; many venues up and down the strip have some back room deal with Freeds and will take the price off your minimum even though you'd think you're using a third party vendor.  Freeds did our cake and Mix at Mandalay took the price off our minimum there.
