Calm your beans, MIL! *vent* (feel free to ignore)

Okay, so SIL (DH's sis) is getting married later this year. They haven't set a date yet, but it will be late November or early December, after school closes. So it is at least 10 months away still. SIL went dress shopping with her girls yesterday. I'm not sure if she's found "the dress" yet, but she has apparently made some decisions about what she wants.

But now MIL is in a total tizz because OMG she needs to get her MOB outfit made like right this freaking second, and oh no the local dressmaker is closed today because it's Sunday, and she won't be in town again until next weekend and OMGOMGOMGOMG.

I keep telling her to relax, there is still plenty of time. Even if we take into account the fact that MIL is going to have to travel up to where SIL is probably a week, maybe two, before the wedding to help with everything, that still gives her AT LEAST 9 months to have her outfit made.

"But it's going to go by so fast! OMGOMGOMGOMG"

I seriously want to smack her. My wedding dress took less than 6 months to make, and that was with changes at second fitting, AND a death in the dressmaker's family putting things on halt midway. I know this dressmaker, I know her work, I am 1,000,000% sure that she will not need 10 months to make a simple tunic, pants, and bolero.

And okay, maybe I'm a little jealous that she didn't put as much thought and effort into her MOG outfit for our wedding. It's petty and irrational, but it's how I feel.

*fumefumefume*

Alright, I'm okay now!

For the record, I did not initiate this conversation, but I have stopped responding to her. And I'm not going to lie, I have also been keeping an eye on pretty things to wear to SIL's wedding, but I am waiting until SIL gives me more details like whether it's going to be in the bush or not, and what time of day it's going to be, before I get serious about looking for something to wear.

  • It's too early in the morning for nonsensical drama llamas.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
