  • I used to live in Tampa. Definitely check out Safety Harbor and Frenchy's in Clearwater (seafood). Over the bridge in Tampa there's the Straz Center, so check to see if any good shows are playing while you're there. Also in Tampa is the Tampa Theater, which is a historic theater that shows old and independent movies, and is basically an attraction in and of itself.

  • I recommend driving south (over the Sunshine Skyway bridge which is a cool experience itself) to Anna Maria Island. Gorgeous beach there. Cameron Diaz has a vacation home there (celebrity stamp of approval haha) I even ate lunch at the table next to her once at this cute restaurant on the beach, Sandbar. Random fun fact.

Then if you're willing to go further South, towards Sarasota, I recommend St Armand's Circle for shopping. It's a huge roundabout that has shops and restaurants all around it - lots of beach boutiques and jewelry stores.

You could also go to Busch Gardens in Tampa if you're a fan of theme parks. It has tons of great roller coasters!

If you find yourself in Sarasota, definitely also check out the Ringling Museum.

St Pete has the Salvatore Dali museum. It's to die for. It's a must see. Docent led tours are included with your admission so make sure to grab one. Even though I love Tampa, Clearwater and Sarasota, I just love to beach and pool it most of the time, so I wouldn't leave the gorgeous white sand. There's a restaurant on a revolving tower at some beach hotel that is very deco style that I love. Food is just fair there, but it's a fun experience. There's also the Pier that's fun to go up to the top and look out over Tampa Bay. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a wonderful experience if you get a cold or cloudy day.
  • Oh, and I forgot Tropicana field, home of the Rays. There's spring training going on all over south Florida in February for a fun outing. Add also jet skiing in the bay as well.
