Just a quick venue inquiry ~

So I found my dream venue & was wondering for a second opinion price wise.
Is 12,000 too much?

We will probably have close to 200 guests. Budget is about 20-26,000.

Thanks ` u')v

Re: Just a quick venue inquiry ~

  • it depends on what you are getting for that $12, 000.

The reception should be 50-60% of your budget.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • What is included?

  • Is that just the rental fee or does that include food and beverage?
  • Depends on what is included in that. I spent just under $6,000 for mine for 120 guests and that covered linens, cake, card box, food, bar & centerpieces (I used the ones they had to pick from). But I know other venues in our area were almost twice the price and didn't include the same times.

I have to look into it further..I want to schedule a visit soon.

I'm also worried about the distance?
We are in Souther California & the venue is in San Francisco..can I have opinions on this also?
I asked my mother (in Arizona) if she thought it was far, she said it was a bit far. However when I asked my fiance's aunt & mother, they said no way, not far at all.
  • We are having 200 guests for dinner and late night food and it is costing us 12k. That included our alcohol has well. We had to pay a rental fee of 1250 though.
  • Once you find out what is included, you can also post this on your local board.  We are international, and prices vary heavily by location.

  • Definitely depends on what is included.
As far as distance, I am not from California, but I am in a similar boat. Groom's family is from Michigan and mine is from Colorado...We chose a location in Colorado about 1 and a half hours away from my friends and family, so basically everyone must travel for our wedding. Ultimately, we decided we should get married in a location we love and want to get married in, rather than try to accommodate everyone, cuz its just not possible. This is your day! You both should do what you want!
  • Hi

The price for SF is not bad. I am getting married in Livermore at a winery and we are at around 14,000 for 150 people (this is all the food, 5 hours of open bar, tables, linens, the great chairs and the ceremony site)

I am from SJ so my friends and family have to travel about an hour to get to the wedding a lot of them are staying over night.
