Work Whine

So, yesterday the announced that the "renegade cowboy" who is a BU Manager for a group I support with 85% or more of my work effort was moving to the parent company.  To fill his role, they have promoted the same BU's Controller.  Who knows NOTHING about operations and who EVERYONE seems to HATE based on their comments- he is a pompous, know-it-all, ass.  As such, I expect him to NEVER be in the field learning about our operations (because he thinks he already knows it all) and to therefore making my life a living hell, even though he also knows very little (I won't say "nothing") about hiring.

I just hired someone to my team who is starting on Monday; I was so happy.  Now I am miserable, and sad for us. 

Even our Personnel Manager came over to me and said "good luck dealing with him."

FML!

I feel your pain. Our plant manager is a complete moron, and screws everything up. And the owner refuses to see it, probably because plant manager has a penis. 

Also, my brain read the post title as Work Wine, and I was like YES, I NEED SOME OF THAT IN MY LIFE.

The guy you're talking about is the boob guy; right?  Think I saw you mention that in another post.  Funny, but NOT funny at the same time.

The boob guy is actually one of the owners! There are technically two owners, that are brothers. But one is just here sending out idiotic emails calling people Boob.

Ugh I hear ya. When i started here, the owner's son wasn't really involved. He's getting more and more involved and he's a DOUCCCCCCHHHHEEEEEE. 

Every single person here has said that they do not plan to stay if/when the owner retires and son takes over.

This is a big concern for me too- people now under this guy leaving in mass droves.  Especially because I'm responsible for hiring people.  My over the top work load will be even more out of control. 

I sincerely believe this is going to be a disaster.  Unfortunately, we don't seem to fire people here EVER so unless this guy moves on to something else, or gets recruited by an outside company, we could be stuck with him for a long time.  He's maybe in his late 30's at the most.
