Tuesday Chat

How are you East coast ladies doing?  What is everyone up to today?

I'm at work and tired...I keep having sad dreams that wake me up and I don't know why (plane crashes, people fighting,  etc.).  Ugh.  I've got to get a double workout in today because I missed yesterday...no clean gym clothes :)  Other than that, another boring day in the life.

Any Super Bowl recipes, ladies?  I'm going to make Indian Chicken Wings but otherwise, I'm lacking inspiration.

Re: Tuesday Chat

  • Here in the DC area we got about an inch. @peekaboo is about 15 miles further north than me, and she might have gotten a little more, but I haven't talked to her yet this morning.

I had a crazy dream the other night that all of my BMs backed out when they saw the wedding venue. They were saying terrible things like "How could you book this place??" When I woke up I had a sad, and then Peek reminded me who my BMs are and that the venue is really pretty. Stupid brain.

I'll probably make buffalo chicken dip and chili mac in the crock pots. I'm not very inventive. Oh...I'll probably be asked to make @swazzle 's pickle dip. There's a certain 12 yr old in my home that loves it.

    I am cranky today!!

Yesterday I got up at 5 AM to get in my work out because I had a massage after work.  Then I got a text from the massage lady wanting to reschedule AGAIN (like the 3rd time) for 6 PM instead of 4 PM.  So I got off at 3:30 and got dinner cooking and cleaned up the house.  6 PM came and went and she never called, never showed, never texted, NOTHING.  I just waited and waited and wasted an entire evening.  Then I couldn't sleep last night.  And it's supposed to be 75 today so I wore a skirt with bare legs, but I'm freezing right now so today I am cranky.

Today I wanted to get in a short run (1.5 to 2 miles) but I have a new PiYo workout tonight (Drench).  It's 48 minutes and supposedly really tough.  Tomorrow is my rest day so I could get in the run and just be crazy-sore tomorrow, but I don't know.  I really should since it's going to be so nice and warm and I'm washing my hair in the morning anyway.  Someone help motivate me!

Is everyone up Northeast surviving the big snowstorm??

ETA:  Also, I don't understand how my ThredUp bag has gone from CA to NV to WY to NE to KS to TX and somehow hasn't ended up in freaking OK!!!!!!  RAWR!!
  • I hope all the ladies who got hit bad with the snow are ok. Anyone snowed in?

I've been feeling icky this morning. Anything I've been eating lately has been making my stomach hurt. I'm going to eat rice and chicken tonight to see if that helps.

I've been putting off cleaning and we desperately need to vaccum and clean the bathrooms. UGH I don't want to do it but I have to...

@minskat30 -I'm making a buffalo chicken crescent roll ring this year. I've made it before a few years ago when I first started dating DH. It's actually really easy and sooo yummy.

  • @beanbot2002 - Pickle dip?  I've never seen the recipe.  Share?

CocoBellaF -WTF!  Rescheduled then never showed?

@SouthernPeach89 - Holy crap that looks good!

  • It seems like overall the blizzard was less severe than predicted. I hope when NOAA upgrades their computers they get a handle on predicting intensity because that's like spinning a roulette wheel right now.

I'm tired today. I started my work week 3 days behind and was 5 days behind when I left yesterday. Some view that as job security - I view that as stress. And I'm just blah today because FI and I had a fight about egalitarian division of labor last night (read: difference in expectation on housework) and we didn't really resolve it before we went to bed. Odds of resolving it this morning aren't good either because I'm still convinced I'm right.

    Morning!

It's still snowing here but we did not get anywhere near what they were predicting. I want the snow to stop and the roads to improve so H can come and get me! I just want to be home on my couch with my furry kids.

Buffalo chicken dip is a must-have. Guac is also my go-to. And as @beanbot2002 said, pickle dip is always a big hit :)

@minskat30 - It's a block of cream cheese and then you slowly pour + mix in pickle juice (not too much too quickly or it'll get watery). Keep going until it's pickley and then scrape in some of the pickle guts. Eat with plain chips or pretzels! It's a family thing and I've made it for multiple g2gs and now it's a requirement.

  • What @swazzle said. It's nom. She ruined me for french onion dip. It doesn't taste right on potato chips anymore. My mouth automatically expects pickle dip these days.

  • Good morning! I stayed home from work today (just assumed we're closed since the bridge was closed this morning), but am trying to work from home. I think I got about 8 inches of snow. Not nearly as much as they were predicting, but I'll take any excuse to stay home from work. I'm just keeping my fingers and toes crossed that my boss doesn't ask anyone to go in later once the roads are all clear.

I second (third? fourth?) buffalo chicken dip!

Glad the storm on the East cost wasn't quite as awful as expected (at least based on what I've heard so far). I hope some of you still have a day off!

@southernpeach89 - That recipe looks so good!!

@Swazzle - Thank you for clarifying pickle dip ingredients, I've been very curious!

Boring day over here. Lots of email and some other work that I've been putting off. I'm making THIS for dinner, and will hopefully squeeze in some gym time before I need to start cooking.

I finished all of my TY notes last night and they are going in the mail today. I have to go get stamps at lunch but at least that's something off my plate.

In non-boring news, one of my best friends got engaged yesterday! We all suspected it would happen this week while they're on vacation with her family. I still haven't talked to her because she's out of the country and I want to hear from her rightthissecond!

ETA: this thread is already giving me too many ideas for what to take to our superbowl party. I was planning on making pico, but now I'm thinking about all the buffalo chicken deliciousness...

  • @allusive007 -WOW! I can't believe you're almost in your third trimester. This has really flown by! So exciting!
  • @allusive007 - I can't believe you are so close to having your little one!!!  And I hope your H gave you a little foot rub while he was clipping your toenails for you.  :)  you deserve it!
  • I left work yesterday all giddy because they sent out an email for an inclement weather hotline (we never close).  This storm was a huge let down, so of course the office is still open.

@swazzle what type of pickles do you use with the pickle dip? I may have to make this for our super bowl party/my brother's 21st birthday.

lmcooper86 Hopefully you can talk to your friend soon and hear all about the proposal.

CocoBellaF I'd find another masseuse, that is incredibly unprofessional for her to change the appointment time and then never show up.

minskat30 Since we are combining my brother's birthday with our super bowl party the menu is based off his requests; so far we have:
    -Hot wings
    -Buffalo chicken dip
    -lasagna
-spinach artichoke dip in a bread bowl
    -macaroni and cheese with bacon
    -loaded potato skins

  • @allusive007 - I'm sure you've got a pretty-pregnant-lady-glow about you, even if you're feeling uncomfortable!

I'm not even sure what we're DOING for the super bowl let alone what I'm making.  I'd be happy sitting at home with buffalo chicken dip and/or hummus and/or guac.  We get back Saturday evening from Florida (unless we get snowed out of Ohio) so I'll figure it all out on Sunday (how's that for procrastination!!).  I might have to try making @Swazzles Pickle Dip!

  • @speakeasy14 - No joke, this was kind of the last straw.  :(
  • @speakeasy14 - Kosher dill. My family believes in the cheaper the better but I just buy Vlasic or whatever there is.

  • Good morning!

I chose to sleep in today, considering that you really can't go anywhere with 16 inches of snow outside. I'm surprised that it's actually still snowing. Apparently we should reach the 20 inches, as predicted. @hummingbird125 & @swazzle- How did you only get so little? I have a 4 foot snow drift next to my car. It's so gnarly.
  • @minskat30 I'm of no help on the Superbowl front. I don't even think FI knows who's in the Superbowl, so we won't be watching.

@CocoBellaF You can do it!!!! Think of how great you'll feel tomorrow knowing that you accomplished both workouts today. Plus you'll have time to recover from the strain. Let me know what you think of Drench-- it sounds like a really intense version of Sweat.

@southernpeach89 I hope you feel better soon!

@swazzle I'm glad the blizzard wasn't as bad as expected! I saw that NYC wasn't allowed to have vehicles on the road after 11pm because they expected the blizzard to be so bad. That's crazy!

@allusive007 I guarantee you that you have a pregnancy glow and look fantastic!

@lmcooper86 Aw, that's awesome news about your friend. I hope you two are able to connect soon!
    --------------------------------
I didn't sleep well either. I kept waking up every hour or so drenched in sweat, and then when my alarm finally went off, I had a bad non-sinus headache and acid reflux. Very strange. I did a tough workout yesterday, so I'm thinking that has something to do with my inability to hit REM cycle last night. Anywho, once I got up and started moving around, I felt better. It's definitely a day for two bags of crack tea though. I neeeeeed the caffeine!

Tonight is going to be fun! After work I'm going to run home and then do a quick PiYo workout. After that, I'm going to meet @audrewuh for drinks at a nearby pub. It will be so nice to meet an NEYer in person! I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe sometime this year we can do a g2g with the TX and OK ladies.

I think my boss is working from home today, so I may sneak out early... it's still incredibly slow at work right now. Yesterday I came close to rearranging all of the stuff on my desk because I needed something to do...

Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

  • You ladies are so sweet!

@CocoBellaF - I didn't get a foot rub...but since H works for a podiatrist and works with feet all day, I can't really blame him!

  • @allusive007 I cannot believe you're so close!! I bet your chest looks wonderful :)

    @ellis1228 I'm so excited!!

    ----------------------------------------

    It's only Tuesday. Ugh.

Yesterday I watched almost the entire 5th season of Downton Abbey and then skyped with @lennondkc (or is it @lennonkdc?) for three hours. The H walked her through the glory that is torrenting, so now she can binge watch DA too.

I'm desperate to make friends with our neighbors, so we bought a table for our kitchen this weekend. Now we just need chairs and we can have people over for games and snacks!

Good point. I don't know why the fuck TK won't capitlize it like I want it to though.

  • SO JEALOUS of everyone making buffalo chicken dip! I have all the ingredients, but I'm worried it'll bring my stomach flu raging back. Last thing I need is to give it an excuse... it's dying down today.

Full day of doing nothing and hopefully not feeling like I'm dying! Hope everyone is doing well with the snow - we didn't get much here, either. Have fun out there!
  •  In CT we had a travel ban starting at 9pm last night. Definitely wasn't as bad as predicted for most of the state (Eastern CT was hit pretty hard though) but yesterday boss said office was closed and I'm sticking to it! FI also has no work, and no classes, so we're having a lazy day. AHH I love it. Everday should be like this! I get really sad when I think about the fact that I spend so much more time at work than I do with FI and family/ friends.
  • @audrewuh - You crack me up! Thanks for the laugh today. I really didn't think my chest had gotten any bigger - I'm still wearing the same bras. BUT, today's attire is making a convincing arguement otherwise.
  • @OurLadyofPotato - Maybe the hot sauce would kill the bad bacteria/virus ??  Hmm - what about using Greek Yogurt instead of cream cheese?
