wedding dream: ski away departure

My darling and I would love to be able to depart our reception on skis, doing something we share joy in. Does anyone know of a venue where this would be possible that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and that guests can access easily? East coast is preferable, but I'll hear any suggestions.

  • Well it's a big world and this in an international board.  Would you like to give us a little more information where you live?

Plus the cost of an arm and a leg is relative.  What I willing to pay and what you are willing to pay might be different things.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Eastern coast of the United States. I'm looking for ideas, so cost doesn't really matter right now, but if someone has done the research already and developed a list, I would love to know of some of the less expensive options on that list.
  • I know of a place in Montana. Like pp said, this is an international board. I recommend googling ski resorts and hills in your area/the area you prefer to get married in and contacting them from there to see if they do weddings. This is kind of an atypical request so it's unlikely that you'll find someone who has researched inexpensive skiing weddings on the east coast.

  • Why not hit up the local boards of Vermont, Maine, New York, West Virginia, etc and ask them if they have any good ski resort recommendations?

  • It might be difficult to ski away... most ski resorts I looked into only do weddings during the off season.  You can still get that whole experience, though, if you go to one of those resorts.  One place I looked into in NY allowed you to get married at the top of the mountain and take the chair lift.  It won't be snowing but you will have the place to yourself and you won't need to worry about having trouble finding a hotel for your guests to stay at.  Just think about how crazy the resorts are during the ski season.
  • Just out of curiosity....what's your game plan if you spend all of this money, and then there isn't any snow when you get married?
