Gervasi vendors

I am getting married at Gervasi in August 2015 at the villa. We are having a small wedding (70 people) and need help with vendor suggestions. Please help me with some quality vendors. Officials to marry us? Live bands? Florists? Bakeries? Salons for bridal hair? Thanks so much!

Re: Gervasi vendors

  • Congrats! Gervasi is a gorgeous venue. Here are a few of my recommendations:

Hair: Lauren DeShone of Signature Hair Studios in Akron. She's been cutting & styling my hair for eight years & is the best! She styled my hair & bridesmaids' hair for my wedding and has also been the hair stylist for another bridal party I was part of. She is excellent at what she does, honest, and very easy to work with.

Flowers: I used Acme Floral for my bridal bouquet & the groomsmen's boutonnieres & made my bridesmaid bouquets myself with bulk flowers I ordered from fancyflorist.com. I was very pleased with my bouquet & the florist really took time to work with me to get the results I wanted. She also found ways to achieve the look I wanted at a lower cost, which was very helpful.

Music: We used 4th & Drink <---clicky for our DJ & were very pleased. These guys are professional, easy to work with, and made sure everyone there had a great time! They also offer great prices. We added uplighting to our DJ package and were so happy we did --- the room looked amazing.

Cake: Tiffany's Bakery. Easy to work with, talented, and made us a great cake! I really appreciated them giving us a "buttercream fondant" option. The cake looks like fondant, but is actually made with buttercream which tastes so much better.

Makeup: Whatever you do, don't go to Ulta for makeup services. I did a trial there & it was awful. I ended up just buying some great products & did makeup myself.

I know the local CLE & NEO boards don't get much action, but I live in the area & am happy to help if I can with anything else :)

    Congrats!! I love Gervasi!

My first wedding was ages ago and I DIY'd almost everything, so I'm not sure I can be of a ton of help, but here are a couple of recommendations:

My cake was basically the only thing I didn't DIY. I got it from Checkerboard Cheesecake in Alliance. They delivered to Belden Village no problem. They were super easy to work with, and the cake was both gorgeous and delicious. I hear Fisher's and Acme both have incredible wedding cakes for super cheap, too.

I didn't use them for my wedding, but I've always loved Cathy Cowgill Flowers. Everything I've ever gotten from them has been absolutely gorgeous. My FI is not from Canton, and he was in town visiting me a while back (before I moved to Pgh) and wanted to get me flowers. He went to Cathy Cowgill completely by accident just because it was sorta near my old apartment, not knowing how much I liked them, and we were both incredibly impressed with the arrangement. He kept raving about it, like "Babe, this place was so awesome, and the lady was so helpful!!!"

I did my own makeup, but I had my hair done (along with my MoH, sister, and mom) at Salon Kisha and it was awesome. I had chin-length hair and really wanted an updo, and they made that happen (75,000 bobby pins later).
