Disney's Latina princess

We don't get a movie, but whatever. I posted this on facebook and I'm just WAITING for one of my borderline racist future in laws to comment. It's still pretty cool! (And no, Sofia the first wasn't Latina. She is European).

Re: Disney's Latina princess

  • I love that they're finally getting a little bit more diverse. I'm also excited that a Disney princess with tattoos exists (and has been around for quite a while-- can you guess which one?!)

But I'm still waiting for a Jewish Disney princess... which probably won't happen considering how Walt felt about my people lol.

    Is it Kida from Atlantis?

I was actually wondering when they would have a Jewish princess. They finally added a Jewish doll to American Girls (still no Asian main character, though) which is pretty cool.

Oh yes! I never really thought about that. Pocahontas is such an aesthetically beautiful movie... (Although so painfully historically inaccurate lol).

  • I still hold out hope for a lesbian Disney princess (why can't a princess rescue another princess).

But I recognize it's like holding out hope that I get a unicorn as a pet.

That's something I'd LOVE to see. Maybe someday. Disney Channel featured a lesbian couple in like one episode of one of their shows. Maybe they'll get it together and feature more LGBTQ+ characters in their shows/movies.

  • A friend from  HS with is the director of the series.  We are so excited for him.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I'm such an idiot. I always thought that thing on Pocahontas' arm was a leather armband with fringe (well, the cartoony version of one anyway).

OMG HAVE YOU READ PRINCESS PRINCESS?

  • I read the article. It says the character is 16 and spends decades trapped in an amulet. Did the amulet also freeze her age or stop her aging process? Decades is plural- if your 16 you've only lived one full decade...

I know this is not the point of the post but was wondering...

I don't think Disney does much good for the world so I won't be watching but enjoy to those who are Disney people.
  • I read this yesterday, and thought it was so cool. FINALLY a Latina princess! Hopefully this will turn into a movie, that would be really awesome!

I love the asymmetrical single strap design with sweetheart neckline on her deerskin dress.
