Wedding Woes

Morning

How was the weekend?

Our was pretty good.  Friday night, we dropped the kids at my parents and went out to dinner.

Saturday, DH worked.  I shuttled the kids from my parents to my IL's and then went shopping. We went out with DH's work people. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday, DH and I were slightly hung over.  ;)  I worked a couple hours, and then we went and got our car that left at the bar (his co-worker took us home). We cleaned and then had the IL's over for the game.

Re: Morning

  • Friday night nothing.  Saturday I took 6let to his first drop off bday party.  We shopped a bit then did nothing.  Sunday the party was cancelled so we played outside, did a little science experiment and watched a movie.

I'm making the kids clean today.  Thursday the school has Eric Litwin, Pete the Cat author, coming for a visit.  My mom is staying with 2 and 3 so I can go with 1.  I think I'm more excited than he is.

  • Saturday we went to DD1's basketball game and did a little shopping knowing we were going to be cooped up inside for a couple days.

It started snowing Saturday night and we had 13.5 inches by the time I went to bed last night.  The wind chill is -22 right now and the kids have a snow day today.

I made the smores version of rice krispie treats and everyone loves them.  It's going to be my new go-to when we need treats in a hurry.

I blew my healthy eating plan this weekend, so I'm trying to get back on track today.  But if I had chocolate at my desk, I would be eating it right now.

Took the kids hiking yesterday, so that was fun.  Wooz's legs were giving out by the end, so I think I need to find something a little shorter next time.  DS rode in the backpack and had the time of his life.

ETA:  I think I'm coming down with the cold DS had last week--I feel sort of generally run down, but the kind that's not bad enough to stay in bed, just bad enough to make you wish you had.
  • Morning. I got up for an early workout class and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow. I also did not drink enough water last night when I got home and the salty food from last night is not agreeing with me.

Saturday I had a moment. I was irritated with DH, needed to get out of the house, so I basically looked at everyone and said "peace out". I went shopping for a few hours then came home.

Sunday we went to my mom's house to watch the game. We left shortly after half-time because the kids were getting tired. After I got home, the kids were in bed, some idiot in our neighborhood starts shooting a gun. WTF morons? So the dogs were going crazy, and of course wanted to be let out which means pawing at the door, but there was no way we were doing that. And then DD woke up. :(

DS is home today with a cold or something. He has a sore throat and runny nose, but that's about it. Of course, DH who goes into work at noon is still sleeping and I'm getting bombarded with DS's questions, etc. And DH also asked me if I was going to be bringing him to the doctor. Um no, it's probably viral and he doesn't have a fever and two, you can bring him as you don't have any where to be until like 1 pm.
  • Saturday, I went to the BMV to renew tags.  Line was hella long but went very quickly.
Then I went shoe shopping with my DSW bday coupon and a gift card, and of course came out empty handed.  That's always the way.
We went to a brazilian steakhouse for lunch for my bday.  God, I love meat.  Hot seared meat served by hot men.  Surprisingly, our picky little eater (DD) did a very good job trying new stuff.  Basically, we learned that she'll try anything if you put salt on it.  (totally setting her up for good habits later in life)
Next, we came home and took naps.  Well, DH and I took naps, while DD watched twenty more episodes of "Jessie".  Does anyone else have a kid that's obsessed with Jessie?  (It's a Disney channel show)
And then I went to a different DSW and found a pair of shoes that are what I needed, but not exactly what I wanted.  They are just terribly boring black loafers.  Bah.

On Sunday, my dad and step-mom hosted a birthday party for DH and I.  (DH's birthday is 2/17).  We had pizza and cake and ice cream.
My grandpa died in December, and my dad went through all of my grandparents photo albums and divided the pictures between the kids and grandkids.  So we all had a good time going through our boxes of pictures and making fun of each other.  Example: my box had a picture of me as Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween 1976.  My *brother* had a picture of him in the same costume for Halloween 1971.  What the heck???

Last night DH's BFF came over with his 3 boys to watch the Super Bowl.  The boys are 4, 6 and 9.  They have school today.  They stayed at our house until the game was over.  What was it, about 11pm?  DD was put to bed at 9pm.  I hated making her go to bed while we had other kids over, but WTF, it was a school night.  I'm not dealing with a crabby, tired, 6 year old who goes to all day every day kindergarten, just because you think it's ok for your kids to stay up that late.  It was a big cluster and DH got an earful and now I'm getting all riled up again.

In other news, Blacklist was new last night and it was GOOOOOOOOD!
  • Gah, DH and I need to watch The Blacklist but he won't be home until like 10 pm tonight and my old ass doesn't want to stay up until 11 pm watching TV.

DH tried to get me to let DD stay up to see the halftime show, and got a hearty hell no.  DH is an insomniac and can survive on 5 hrs of sleep, whereas Wooz and I are a mess whenever we fall short.  You can definitely see the difference in her when she's getting ready in the morning, and I may have been the bad cop, but that kid was ready to go before I was this morning, and no tears were shed.  I think she can survive without Katy Perry live for a few more years.

I did let DD stay up to watch Katy Perry, because she loves "Roar" and has watched the video a million times (It's PG).  She loved the performance and we were all amazed by the giant lion robot puppet.  That was very bad-ass.
  • My kids still haven't seen fireworks because I don't mess with bedtime.  We have been more lenient with 6let the night before Thanksgiving and the night we do Christmas at my folks.  Otherwise it's 8 pm for all.
  • OTOH, my 10-year-old nephew, who is obsessed with the NFL and can tell you anything and everything about every team and every player since the beginning of time - - wasn't allowed to stay up to watch the second half. Poor kid.  If he were my kid, I would have let him. Then again, if he were my kid, he wouldn't be obsessed with the NFL, so there's that.

Blacklist was AWESOME.  DH didn't want to stay up to watch it, but I did!  I watched it at a neighbor's house b/c I was jonesing.  I have so many more questions and I cannot BELIEVE that cliff hanger.  AAAAHAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

In other news, I got a logo designed and set up an online shop for it.  Stressful, but awesome.  That's about it for my weekend.  I needed it.  I came home sick on Friday and slept the rest of Friday and most of Saturday.
