Hi, ladies! I've been all over the place lately, but by next week, my life should calm down a little.

We've had three snow days and about 3 feet of snow in the past week. It's so bad that the MBTA is experiencing some of the worst delays I've ever seen since I moved to the city six years ago. I feel bad for the operators and drivers who are trying their best right now.

It doesn't help that it's FREEZING today, so waiting in the cold for a train that might be too crowded to get on? Not pleasant.

I'm about to go teach; one of the other teaching fellows is stuck in Colorado till Thursday because of all the flight delays, so I'm taking one of her sections. I've also got so many emails to catch up on, and so much grading to do!

This weekend or next weekend, J and I are FINALLY doing our big shopping trip! We're not sure which couch to get, though. The one we wanted is FINALLY available online again (this in dark gray), but we might like this one better (in gray). And then this one is new. Thoughts?

@Phira - have fun shopping! I like the 2nd and 3rd options for the couch.

I swear I have been in total disbelief of the crap that has come out of my mother and her husband since the wedding. Some of the highlights:

My brother wore jeans, sneakers, a button down, and a suit jacket. He was IN the wedding. This is after my mother told me my H couldn't be in the wedding because he didn't own a suit.
"Your brother is just a big drunk." - (mom in regards to my brother wearing jeans to the wedding)
"We didn't 'make' nearly enough money from this wedding. People are so cheap. Don't they know it cost us a lot of money?" - (mom's H)

Oh and the icing on the cake? "I don't know what I'm going to do. I only have enough money for 1 more month. If I don't get some closings soon, we're both out of a job." - Mom to me (we work together)

@phira - That is a TON of snow!!!

I am having a hard day today.  I don't want to do any of this.  It sucks.  That's all.

I'm getting my nails done after work.  They look scraggly.

Tonight is PiYo Drench.  It's 48 minutes.  I haven't done it yet so I'm looking forward to trying it.  Then we'll eat dinner, I'll fold some laundry, and I'll probably go to bed.  I'm tired.

Morning! I was MIA yesterday because I was WFH because of the snow. We got 18-20 inches yesterday - it started overnight and literally did not stop snowing all. day. long. It took FI & I a good two hours to clear the driveway, and that was with both of us going non-stop the whole time. I'm annoyed with Governor Cuomo because he's a NYC elitist and was all up in arms at the storm downstate last week, gave state workers down there the day off, etc., but didn't say/do ANYTHING about our storm yesterday. PS The state government is RUN out of Albany, you moron. 

Anyway, FI & I both worked from home, so the pupper has been spoiled, and was not happy with us getting ready for work this morning. Her sad eyes just kill me. 

I'm catching up on some work today - there are some things I just can't get done at home.

WR: We tentatively scheduled a new engagement shoot with our photographer for March 1 - I'm hoping there will still be snow on the ground! And we found a DJ, YAY! Our food tasting is Feb. 28, and we'll do that and meet with the florist that weekend as well. It's getting so close!!

Morning ladies.  I'm tired but hopefully the day will go by quickly.  I made H breakfast this morning (he usually buys it) and am feeling all domestic.    I made a ton of food this weekend too so we should be set for the week.  This weekend was ok but I got sick from something I ate and the dog got sick too.  Yeah, cleaning a 120lb beast in the tub (he hates baths and tries to escape) was not fun when I was feeling gross too.  The kicker?  After I cleaned him up, he decided to roll around in the snow and dirt.  Le sigh.

@phira @goldenpenguin UGH. all the snow. We got a ton,. I don't know how much, and it just kept on coming yesterday! I think we got more than we did from the blizzard from last week. No fun shoveling this morning Though I did enjoy the snow day... now I'm back in the office, with tons and tons to do. oh well. #adulting.

I'm feeling much better today. I think it's because I finally got my butt off the couch and did some things around the house. I've been so tired and lazy and I'm feeling better now that I got some things done. Tonight DH is going to help his mom do some more moving so I'm on my own tonight. I want soup or just something warm.

Morning! I was a lazy bum last night. I had all kinds of things to do and instead, H and I sat on the couch and watched SOA. He is going to the Devils game tonight and I'm going home to the pup so I have NO EXCUSE not to get shit done. That includes grocery shopping for this weekend (THREE DAYS!!!!), unpacking a few boxes/bins, and moving furniture around so I can figure out which couch to buy.

I'm having a crappy Tuesday.  I got all the way down here and then realized I have no shoes, which means no run tonight.  M is going to want me to go to trivia, but I have no interest.  

On the bright side, facilities came up and hung all our artwork and my cork board, which is AWESOME.  I just need to actually get some cleaning done, and then we're ready to go!

And, our coffee table shipped, so that should be here tomorrow.  And then hopefully my file cabinet and the rest of my Poppin order will be here by Saturday, and I can spend some time cleaning/reorganizing the rest of our office/my sewing space.  Huzzah for, 8 months later, finally getting settled!

Hey ladies, I'll take some of your snow! Just rain here agagin, although thankfully it decided to start after I walked the dog.

Today I am sexually frustrated. My downstairs is a mess, but horny me ended up starting things with my BF last night TWICE before remembering I was going to leave unsatisfied. Oh well, he slept like a god damned baby.

I talked to my little sister in Seattle last night. We both have the 16th off, so she is going to take me shopping and FORCE me to buy clothing! She really is good at convincing me I look good in things. I told her I will repay her by taking her to the Melting Pot. I love that place!

Morning, all!

So I have to give a results seminar on my graduate work a week from Friday. I'm combining two projects into my Ph.D. and I only have time to present on one. I have one ready to present on. The PowerPoint is 156 slides and counting. I have no good way to cut it back, and I have an hour to present. Ugh!!!

But I have good news - tonight is my first fitting for my dress! If I remember to charge my phone in the car I will take photos, but it's going to look very different after tonight - I'm cutting off the train and going (at least) to ankle-length. I'm going to hem it there and go up if I need to. And I found the form for dyeing my shoes.

Otherwise I'm staring 60+ funding opportunities in the face and I'm behind and need to leave early today, so I'm out. Have a good day everyone!

@AlPacina - Honestly, I'm shocked that's all he did. It's no big secret that my brother actually hates this guy. I mean, genuinely hates him. So much that it's ruined my brother and my mom's relationship completely. But even I was a little surprised that he wore what he did. I think he could have found a much better way to object than that.

Nothing much going on today. I was so tired last night after our busy weekend so I got home and sat my butt on the couch and did nothing all night aside from make dinner with H. Tonight I have bookclub. I haven't finished the book because I just started it last night...oops. But it is really good so I'll definitely continue reading it! It just won't be complete in time for tonight's discussion unless I 100% slack off from work today. In other news, we're definitely getting sod put in in April. I just need to hire a contractor and pick a grass varient. Our septic tank project came in way less expensive than we had ever hoped for (meaning we didn't have to dip in to our emergency savings Thank Goodness!), and between our tax refund, and my bonus, we can pay to have a new backyard (since it's 50% mud now and 50% weeds and spotty grass). Now I just need to figure out if I wanna spend an extra $1k for the nicer grass or go with the less expensive (there are advantages with both types and only some disadvantages with the cheaper one). We aren't 100% sure on what our long term plans are with the house, whether we'll sell/rent it out/live here forever and ever and ever, but I am 100% certain that I want instant gratification with a yard this spring that will hold up to our heat and our increased sunlight in the backyard.

I am at work today. Grudgingly. I had a super productive snow day yesterday (laundry and cleaning and finalizing guest list and nap time), but started feeling really shitty after dinner. My throat is killing me and nothing is helping, my ears are all plugged up, my head and neck really hurt, and I'm feeling exhausted. I'm going to the walk-in clinic in my building at lunch I think; I'm worried I might have strep throat.

No plans tonight. I have to deal with some WR stuff so that we can finalize our invitations order in the next couple of days. And tomorrow night we're meeting with our officiant to work on the ceremony (so I better not be actually sick, because I cannot reschedule this!)

Day off! Mostly to be spent grocery shopping, which is actually semi-fun for me since I'm turning into a crazy coupon lady and saving money is aces, and partially in Barnes & Noble, where I'll use the Christmas gift card I found under a pile of crap. I'm thinkin' C.S. Lewis. Nonfiction, but it's about time I reread Narnia too.

I didn't get to sleep until like 5 last night, though, after a brief sleeping stint between 11-1 or so. So I expect to nod off at some point during today's events. Nothing like sleeping through your day off work.

FI is still locked out of everything at work. His boss is in the office today and told him that his contract renewal is still pending approval from the contracting company's CEO... and that guy is notoriously difficult to get a hold of. FI's been trying to get in contact with him for a few weeks to discuss the renewal and see if he can get a raise or more vacation days... and we have yet to hear back from him. This guy's VM says he'll be out for the holidays until Jan 5, so yeah...

FI also revised our combined budget and somehow made more of a discretionary income for each of us appear while still being very aggressive with loan repayment and savings. He's a magician, y'all! We're going to open a joint checking account this weekend. We are so grown up, guys. :-P

Also, my uterus is trying to kill me today.

Tonight I'm doing PiYo Upper Body and PiYo Buns, and then once PiYo kills me, I'll lay on the couch and watch FI make breakfast for dinner. I'm almost done with Buffy, so I'll probably try and finish the show tonight. 

Tomorrow I get to work from home! I've been looking forward to it all week. Wednesdays are my new favorite days.

ETA: Re: FI's job-- the CEO of the contracting company has been in Asia for like a month. He just got back Sunday. Obviously his VM was WRONG, but it explains why no one has been able to get in touch with him and why FI's contract renewal was not approved yet.

I'm having a shitty Tuesday.  I did my taxes this morning and I owe an amount that is completely and totally impossible for me to come up with by April.  I don't understand...I have them take the maximum out of every check, I have a TON of deductions...I guess it must be something about working 4 different jobs.  Plus, I was supposed to go to the library this morning and do research, and I literally did not hear my alarm go off.

I'm going to try to salvage today by getting my nails done and working on the outline for my next chapter.  I'm going to try to avoid the wine.  But ARGH.  I'm super cranky.

Maybe more coffee is in order.

@Ollie08 Apparently Mercedes-Benz is also moving their HQ to Duluth. We still don't know details on when or how many jobs they are bringing, but they'd all be high-end office type positions. We're looking at Zeon Zoysia and TifGrand Bermuda (it's the shade tolerant variety). The more I'm reading right now though I'm feeling more and more comfortable with the bermuda. Walter Reeves has lots of good things to say about it and he's my favorite gardening expert. Plus I found some lawn related forums and people seem to like it equally as well as the zoysia...so it looks like we may be saving $1k woo!

ETA on the other hand, zoysia is pretty bug-resistant, but more prone to fungal diseases. It requires 50% less fertilizer than bermuda, so over time we MAY get that $1k back in fertilizer savings. Why is this decision so hard????

@futuremrshistorian - You can set up a payment plan with the IRS! I had a tax bill from a couple years ago (the guy who did my taxes fucked up and really screwed me), and I was able to schedule payments every month, so I didn't have to come up with the couple thousands of dollars I owed. Look into it!

@LaBro - We'll do the cake stuff that weekend too Don't worry, my wedding will NOT be cakeless!

@lmcooper86 - What kind of food are you doing? I'm SO looking forward to our tasting. I can't wait.

Good Morning ladies

I'm so tired today.  Mr. Snow Plow came down the street and made several passes at 2AM.  After that, I couldn't fall back to sleep solidly.  H was snoring and I couldn't get comfy.  I told H that I want a new bed for Valentine's Day - right now we only have a double and I should be able to fit a queen in my room.  I figure when we get a bigger place the queen can become a guest bed and we'll get a king at that time.  I just feel I have no space.

I'm having a hard time keeping up today, so sorry for no replies

@GoldenPenguin - Probably a chicken and a beef. We're taking our moms and trying a bunch of dishes. Our venue is in the process of transitioning from one menu to another, so we have a ton of options to chose from!

And re: fiber lash mascara: PREACH! A girl I work with is selling it now and is driving me crazy!

@Ollie08 My family has been driving me crazy this week too. I hope your mom isn't serious about her financial situation and is just exaggerating. :-\ And yes, FI is a magician. He made my day! Maybe I can swing a few NEY G2Gs now or go to ATL to visit my niece and nephews soon-ish.

@minskat30 Aunt Flow needs to DIAF lol. I'm happy that she represents no baby, but she needs to chill out a bit. Hope you feel better soon!
