@peekaboo2011, @labro, and @GoldenPenguin - It's his absolute last option if everything else should fall through--it's basically Plan C.  We are on the same page about that; it's more a difference of perspective than anything else.  I'm always super optimistic, and he's...not.  So when we talk about it, he always goes to the "Everything else is going to fall through and I'm going to have to go back to Afghanistan" place, while I go to the "I found us all these nice apartments and studios where I could take ballet in San Diego or DC" place.  The money in Afghanistan is really good, and the position does have a lot of possibility for promotion, but he wants to go back about as much as I want him to...which is not at all.  So, we are in agreement, but until something else is signed and he starts the job, he'll be in his pessimistic place and I'll be irritated by it.

As for the ex...ugh.  Bitch defines batshit crazy.  She'll go away for awhile, and then reappear and pretend he and I haven't been dating for...oh, I don't know, going on 3 years now.  She'll start calling him randomly or emailing his parents "Just to say hi."  What set me off today was that she had the nerve to email and ask him for his address so she could "send him a Valentine's Day note."  He just rolls his eyes and ignores her, but I'm not exactly rational when it comes to her and so I get pissed.  I may have overreacted...

Edited so I could answer @speakeasy14, because we posted at the same time: We do have a plan.  I'll take whatever job opens up for me, and then when he gets back we'll relocate then.  Not the most appealing of options, but it would have to work.

Calm down.  Seriously.  Your wedding is 8 months away.  Stop listening to the bridal store - they're there to make pushy sales.  The world will not end if we don't all order our dresses at the same time.  Promise!  You and my brother will still be married at the end of the day!  You don't have to remind us on facebook every week/week and a half to order our BM dresses.

On a related note - does anyone have suggestions for a good way to tell my FSIL I don't intend to order from her local bridal salon?  I have no problems buying the dress she picked out.  It's a new style from Christina Wu/Pretty Maids so there's no risk of it being discontinued.  I just don't want to order it this second (the salon is pushing her to have all orders in by the end of the month) and am not fond of their prices (after their fees is $63 more than the place I would prefer to order from.)  I have lost 3 sizes since last summer and am still losing.  I have no idea what size I'm going to be in October.  Also, if FI and I start TTC right away and get lucky I could be very well be pregnant by then, which means I will need to take that possibility into account when ordering/doing alterations.  The consultant I talked to said the order would only take 9-12 weeks tops, so even if I wait until June I'd still have at least a month to do any necessary alterations.  WWNEYD?
