What kind/color of shoe would look best? UPDATE - Found them

I have my dress but am having a hard finding the right shoe to match. The length of the dress will be a little shorter than what's on the model below and I won't be wearing a belt. I'm not a huge fan of super high heels as I'll be dancing the night away and I don't like toe peep style either.

Would a gold, silver, or snow white color shoe look best?

Below is a picture of my dress. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

What do you mean that the length will be higher? You mean it will be shorter in front? You can wear any of the suggested shoe colors since they are neutrals. I'd be more focused on finding one that's comfortable.

  • You could wear any color shoe with that dress; blue, purple, red, whatever. The colors you listed would match too.

If you're worried about comfort, I would look for something with a shorter heel and/or a wedge heel or even flats. I agree with PP, I'd care more about finding something comfortable and the color would be secondary since so many different colors would match.

    Here's some options:

  • @novella1186 - I want those Louboutins as the flats to wear when I can't do heels anymore!!  I'm guessing you haven't seen them on sale for like $50? haha - I'd rather keep the flats price super reasonable, but omg those are amazing!

I know, they caught my eye and I thought "ooh, maybe!" till I saw the brand. Womp womp. Of course they're way out of budget lol. But I still love to look at them!

  • Thank you @novella1186 for the suggestions! I love the short chunkier heel with the crystals, reminds me of Dorothy's shoes in The Wizard of Oz and of course the gold flats are gorgeous! Do you happen to know the source of the crystal shoes (picture #3)?

It looks like that exact picture came from a Chinese knock-off site :(

I would not recommend that. I would try Zappos, Amazon, Macys, or even Etsy (I have a friend who got sparkly wedding shoes from Etsy and she loved them; said they were super comfy)
    These are really fun
There's lots of options out there! :)

  • Since you aren't doing a belt then whatever color you want from bold to subtle. But do go for comfort

  • Is the beading on the bodice silver? If so, I think it would be odd to wear gold shoes. I'd stick to white, silver, or any other color (blue, red, etc.).

Comfort is key, and you want to be confident the shoes will stay on your feet...you don't want to slip out walking down the aisle! I made sure I got shoes that really strapped on for that reason. I preferred a closed toe, but ended up with more of a sandal just for comfort reasons.

Also, if you're planning on changing your shoes, keep in mind the hem of the dress. If it's hemmed for heels, it'll be dragging when you put on flats.

And finally, heels really alter the way you stand and walk and hold yourself, as compared with flats. Just something to keep in mind. I wanted to wear heels so I'd carry myself in that way.
  • So I think I've found my shoes to wear with my dress. It's by Betsey Johnson's Blue line. Apparently they are very popular as they're often out of stock in the white color and my size but I did find an online store that carries 6.5 white :) I love the white simplicity paired with the gorgeous crystal bow in the front, it's just enough bling without overpowering the dress.

    What do you think?

I WANT THESE SHOES!!!  I've been eyeing them at Macy's for a few weeks now.  They're on sale, but I still can't bring myself to spend the sale price.  Great shoes with just enough sparkle.
  • Love them!!!!

Just to warn you, you might need a half size bigger. I bought this exact pair and returned them because the toe part is so insanely tight (which was weird to me, because I have tiny feet)

But I hope they work for you! Even though I didn't end up keeping them, I still love them and think they're awesome

  • Thank you @novella1186 for the warning, I'll keep that in mind and if they don't fit I'll try a size 7. I'm glad I found them now so I have plenty of time to break them in.

A really awesome trick I learned if shoes are just a little too tight: put on a really thick pair of socks, squeeze into the shoes, and heat them with a hair dryer. It seriously works to loosen them up.
