Help! Name Hyphenation

Hi All,SO I do NOT want a hyphenated last name but I am a professional singer so I am keeping Katherine Maidenname as my singing name..better stage name and easier to keep contacts.I legally I am now Katherine Mary Maidenname Marriedname on my SS Card and License (though they hyphenated it).  When I went to change my bank credit card it would not fit my name.  I called the bank and they said just leave it as my maiden name and it should be fine as that is still part of my last name.Does anyone have this problem?  What did you do?

How did you change your name if you're not married yet? If your bank isn't worried I wouldn't be worried.

They shouldn't. That paper you get from city hall isn't official until it's been signed to your officiant, sent back to city hall and you recieve the official certificate in the mail weeks later. Sounds like someone didn't know how to do their job...

I've never heard of changing your name before the wedding.  I know changing it because you got married is free but you need your official marriage certificate for that.  Anyway, it should be fine.  I work at an insurance company and we see policies with people's maden names only instead of the hyphenated new name.  Doesn't matter because it's still got that name in it.
