3 Months Out...

We are 3 months out this month!! What are you all completing this month? What are you freaking out about? What do you have under control?

I am freaking out because it's getting so close SO FAST!

Re: 3 Months Out...

  • Aaaaah!  I'm closer to 4 months because we are May 30, but holy shit.

    Checked off recently:
Officiant, flowers, tux rentals, bridal shoes, invitation samples

    Upcoming to-dos:
Order invitations, veil, makeup and hair, choose menu and cake from caterer package, order tablecloth overlays and vases for flowers

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I know I can't believe how fast time is going. I'm freaking out too. The only things I have left to do are: pick ceremony readings, finalize flowers, send out invites, get ceremony and reception accessories ( FG basket, card box etc) pick songs, and there is probably more I'm drawing a blank right now. The one I'm truly nervous about is my first dress fitting. I ordered my dress almost a year ago and haven't seen it since.
  • Our wedding isn't until the last weekend in May, and it still feels SO CLOSE. This week's projects: ordering our rehearsal dinner invites, finding a bakery to make us a cutting cake that won't prohibitively expensive, and finalizing groomsmen attire.
  • Ahhhhh 3 months! I was panicking for awhile, feeling like nothing would EVER get done, but I checked off a bunch of stuff over the last few weeks and most things are now planned which is a relief!

Recently accomplished:  Addressing invitation envelopes (DIY-ing this... I downloaded pretty fonts and am running the envelopes through the printer), booked transportation, initial meeting with DJ, booked hair/makeup

Still to do:  Order cake (using Publix, who only need 10 days notice), do three more premarital counseling sessions at the church where our ceremony is (first one was a piece of cake! Hoping it stays that way, haha), schedule hair/makeup trial, stuff & stamp invitations, FI needs to pick out ties for him & his GM, first dress fitting (can't WAIT until it comes in!!! Should be very very soon)

Now that I list it all, it seems like I still have a lot to do, but I feel like I have it under control - for now!!

  • I am exactly 3 months out today and I am not sure how that happened!

We nailed down our baker and transportation last weekend, and met with our officiant this past week. Our tasting is in a couple of weeks as well.

I need to finish organizing hair and make up (have quotes but nothing finalized), we need to finish our invitations order, and I need to buy shoes and decide if I'm wearing a veil. I also need to get my dress altered, but it's very minor work and I'm not super worried. And we need to figure some of the details of the ceremony, like readings and music and stuff.

I have a bunch of other details things to figure out still, but it seems manageable...unless I have totally forgotten something!

Just a tip, don't send your invitations in February! (unless you're having a DW)

6-8 weeks out is a good timeframe to send them, so if your wedding is the first weekend in May you shouldn't be sending them until March 7th at the earliest. If you send them too early, people will set them aside and then forget to RSVP. You want to give them enough time, but not too much time.

  • emster86. People keep asking about wedding planning and my new line is "I think everything is under control". Because I think it really is. All vendors are hired, invitations are ordered and envelopes are mostly addressed. I even ordered the postage for the invites the other day after getting our invites and RSVP post card weighed. We are sending out invites the first week of March for our May 2 wedding. We realized late in the game, after sending out save the dates, that hotels are going to be at a premium due to a local graduation the same day as our wedding. We have rooms blocked but want to get the guests the info as soon as possible within etiquette (we have also been reaching out to our VIPs to let them know about the hotel issue).

Things that I'm planning to work on in the next couple weeks:
    -Get event insurance.
    -Buy ties for the groomsman.
-Figure out some details with our friend who is officiating.
    -Order our linens.
-Figure out what red wine we're going to buy.
-Ordering the wedding rings (we finally went shopping the other day and got a feel for what we both liked but the store we visited is pretty overpriced for what we want).
-Honeymoon? This is the thing we haven't nailed down at all, and it is starting to stress me out because we talked about doing a cruise but I've found that our options are pretty limited at the time of year and date we'd want to go.

My biggest grievance right now is STILL our frigging guest list. My mom keeps adding people then telling me to delete them, then telling me to add them back to the list. It's driving me nuts and I have to submit our final list with addresses to our invitation lady because she's addressing them for us. Going. Nuts.
  • I was totally calm until I realized that OMG 3 months to go!!! I need to print the wedding invites and RSVP cards this month. I also would like to have all the invites adressed by the end of Feb so that when it's time to mail them I cant just send them to the post office no worries.
Also what are you ladies doing for favors?! Im doing something similar to the pic I attached but have no idea where to find those small containers. Any suggestions??
  • @yogabride19 Those favors are really pretty!  Have you checked oriental trading? or exclusively weddings definitely has them. !!!

For favors we are doing mini bottles of whiskey and mini bottles of wine like the pictures attached.

We are also making a donation in honor of my dad who passed.

  • Hi @jltobe23! Just wanted to pass along this thread with some useful information about making a donation in lieu of favors.

I'm sorry for your loss. Making a private donation is lovely, but publicizing it to your guests is almost always side-eyed. Just trying to help save you from that!

  • Thanks @hsgator  maybe ill "come to my senses."

I said we are doing mini bottles as favors, I never said I was doing a donation in-lieu of favors. I was just saying that we are donating for my dad, so we aren't spending a fortune on little trinkets that people may just leave behind.  I have seen the etiquette pages about this and I understand its frowned upon. I should have stated that in my first post.

Right, the mini bottles sound awesome, and donating for your dad is wonderful, but advertising that donation at your wedding is the part that will be side-eyed. It's like saying "hey, everyone, look at me and FI, we donated to charity!" Your heart is in the right place, I'm just trying to help you avoid doing something that won't come across well to your guests. Make the donation, just don't make a mention of it at the wedding.

Thanks again, but I didn't say I was going to announce it at the wedding. I was just saying it on this forum.

Anyway, It's getting closer and closer to May ladies.... anyone feel like they are all caught up? I look at my checklist everyday and I seem to be on track, I just don't want to forget anything.  The big things that I need to finalize are Flowers and Music choices, I am having a hard time with those.

  • This feels like a humble brag but we've been ahead of schedule on pretty much everything from the get go. I've toyed with the idea of getting a head start on escort cards for the people we know will absolutely be coming. I'm to the point where I can't do anything else until we know the exact number/names of attendees.

This weekend I'm going to look over all of our contracts again so I can make sure I have all the deadlines for vendors in the wedding spreadsheet. I've also been slowly putting together BM gifts. But all of our vendors have been locked down since Nov/Dec.
