A British Wedding...hat etiquette and where to buy?

One of my good friends is getting married this summer in NJ on a beach, followed by champagne and then a formal reception in the evening. She is British and a bunch if us would like to wear hats to the wedding. Does anyone know proper etiquette? How to determine what style? And where to buy? Someone suggested shopping now that Easter hats are in stores, but everything I've seen is painfully expensive. TIA!

British hat etiquette is the same as American hat etiquette.  Ladies wear hats throughout the event.  Men take their hats off indoors and at during the ceremony.  They tip their hats when being introduced to ladies.  Baseball caps should not be worn at all.
Many African American churches have continued the custom of ladies wearing hat and gloves.  They can be a good source for hat shopping.  Good hats are very expensive.  I wore a hat to my daughter's wedding, as did the MOG.

Do you have any Charming Charlie's stores by you? If not, just check out your local accessory stores for possible options.

Thanks everyone!  I also read that ladies wait for the MOB to remove her hat at the reception; then everyone else can follow (if they choose to).  @erikan73 - I just asked my mom if she knew of any good stores and she also recommended Charming Charlies.  I will check them out as well as modcloth.com.  Thanks!

There is no reason for the MOB to remove her hat.  After an hour, I had "hat hair", and I wouldn't want to remove my hat, especially with the photographer around.
