PMeg's school post reminded me, because I was talking about moving away from the old house/iffy school:
I was way-early for my dentist appointment earlier, and my dentist is like 5 min. from the old house. So on a whim, I decided to drive by the old house. This is only the second time I've been back; the first time was only because we were nearby and the Woozle specifically asked to go see it.
I got there, and they had one of those big pink "It's a Girl!" storks on the lawn. I did vaguely remember them saying something about the wife being pregnant, and that's why they were looking to move to a bigger house. So I thought "That's nice, another new baby for the old house." And then out of nowhere, I got sort of choked up. IDK, I guess I was remembering how it was bringing Wooz home from the hospital there, and then DS. And how the people we bought it from (who were the ones who built it) had both of their kids when they were living there, and now this third family is doing the same thing. And it made me nostalgic, when at the time, I was just happy to leave
it behind, with its damned leaky polybutylene pipes, and the driveway that
sloped so much Wooz couldn't even ride her bike on it, no
sidewalks, no neighbors with kids her age, crappy school, etc.
Sappy cornball nonsense. But still, I'm really happy for them. And kind of glad the house has a new family.
