Happy Valentine's Day

I shouldn't be complaining because I do have sunshine right now, which is nicer than lots of places up north. However, TWC says that it's 35 and feels like 28. I've been in Times Square at midnight on New Year's in warmer weather.

FI made French toast in the morning, with caramelized sugar on top. Then we went to the Museum of Natural History and saw the live butterfly exhibit, then went home and made ourselves some simple dinner.Then we started watching Empire and could. Not. Stop.

But the real story for me is that today is MAH BIRTHDAY! So there will be brunch with friends, and I am treating myself to a big, fat, Bloody Mary.

H and I have never done anything for Valentine's Day....neither of us were big fans of it before meeting each other, and then our dating anniversary was February 16th, so we always just celebrated that instead.  

This year I slept in and woke up to find H already awake....and flowers on our dresser.  He had gotten up early and ran to the store to surprise me.  Aw.

We spent the morning kayaking/paddle boarding, then went to a local brewery for some craft beer, where we ran into some friends.  Spent the afternoon with friends, then left to do some wine tasting and get some tacos from our favorite Mexican joint (the owners actually catered our RD out of their truck).  Went home, got high, and ordered pizza and cheesy bread.

Fucking awesome day.

I stood outside at a hockey tournament on v-day. FI's team won all but one of their games!!! They almost won the championship!!!

Here is me at -30 on the left. My eyelashes collected ice and it felt weird.

H and I never celebrate Valentines Day. I helped my.mom clean a house. He cleaned his grandparents' woodshed and did some other odds and ends for them. He did surprise me and my mom with Starbucks

I helped him work on his four wheeler axle that afternoon. One of our good friends came over to help and then we all had steaks since his girlfriend, one of my BFFs, had to work.
