How important is it that the Save the Dates match the Invitation?

Hello everyone! I'm wondering if I could get opinions on how important it is that STDs match the later invitation -- we didn't do one of the STDs with a picture of us, instead I designed a postcard with autumnal graphics for our October wedding. I made a matching invitation, but lost the template when my hard drive crashed and now I'm reconsidering having them match exactly, especially now that I've done more research on different ways to design the invite. We're not having a formal wedding, so given the more cocktail atmosphere we're striving for, is a full "invitation suite" the kind of thing people only think about for the space of one picture of your suite and then move on? Or would you as a guest notice if the invitation was markedly different from the STD?

Your wedding colors must be incorporated and all must coordinate with the following: save the dates, invites, inserts, menus, programs, table numbers, escort cards, thank yous, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen attire, flowers, linens and all other misc. details.

Now, wouldn't that be silly if that were true?

Thank you all -- I was thinking along the same lines, but I haven't been to many weddings and I wanted to double-check that it wouldn't be something the guests would side eye (or even notice.)

Mine didn't match. If anyone side-eyed it, I never heard about it. If someone said something to me about noticing that these two items didn't match, I would tell them to get a fucking hobby.

Mine didn't match, I hadn't even figured out my colors yet when we sent our STD. We had a fair number of guests who needed to plan for travel, including overseas guests. Due to that, we sent out our STD earlier then really necessary, but it allowed our guests plenty of time to plan then.
