I'm German so it's FASTNACHT DAY. And the snow missed us, so if H doesn't want to stop, I can probably run out and get them.

I lived in a small town in central Louisiana for a few years, Mardi Gras there is a lot of fun without the total sloppiness of New Orleans.

We used to have a family friend who would send us King Cakes from Poupart's Bakery in Lafayette every year and damn, they were good!

Sadly, she passed away.

The registrars office at my university has a Mardi Gras thing every year. Since I work on that floor I get to enjoy it too. normally the students just come through, grab some kings cake and other stuff and then leave. I'm making jumbalaya on Thursday as its the only night I'll be home to make dinner this week.

@anjemon, this is it but I'm lazy and just throw a pack of frozen veggies (that MUST contain okra, onions, and celery) in with the sausage, chicken, roux, and water. Then toss the frozen shrimp in at the end and make a pot of rice to serve it all over.

I didn't buy them because they were only packaged by the 1/2-dozen.  And as much as I would have LOVED to nom on all 6 of them, I know my waistline (and my doctor) would have been mad.  So I just droooooooled.
