Wedding Woes

Friday

What's up for the weekend?

We're out of school today.  It's the 6th calamity for regularly scheduled kids so they have to do blizzard bags.  We don't know about kindergarteners but I'm going to make him do it anyway.  Tonight was supposed to be Bunco at crazy lady's but everyone bailed so she cancelled and we're doing a surprise shower for someone.

Tomorrow is the funeral which is going to suck.  DH is staying home with the kids because this just won't be the appropriate place.  70+ year old grandpa of 17 yes.  44 yo mother no.

Sunday we have tee ball evals.  I really hope DH doesn't have to work so he can take 6let.

Re: Friday

  • Oh 6...So many prayers for peace tomorrow.  :(

DefConn has cried at drop off every day this week.  I'm trying to be patient, but this phase can end any time.  I'm not sure why separation anxiety is rearing it's head, but it's frustrating.

Tonight: DH is working late.  I'm taking the kids to meet the IL's for dinner.  It will be MIL, FIL, GFIL, StepGMIL, two uncles, and an aunt.  One uncle hasn't met DefConn, I don't believe. (side vent: DH is always slow at the start of the week and they end up slammed by the end of the week.  I do not understand this at all.  It would seem that they could spread it out a little more.  I hate that he's never home until super late on Fridays.) (side note: I hope the kiddo wheedles his way into staying at the IL's tonight.)

Tomorrow: FIL's bday party.  I'm hoping we can make a Costco stop before we go over there.  They have these great entry, no slip rugs on special for $8 and it ends tomorrow, I think.  I need 2 more.

Sunday: Nothing, except I'm working 2-5 for overtime.
  • I am so dumb.  When I started working they didn't really have corporate emails so I would get some work stuff to my Hotmail account.  I've kept that account because I've had it forever.  I kept getting something from the O2 Connection.  I just assumed it was my old oxygen supplier.

I opened the email for the first time today.  It's an Origami Owl supplier.oooooooooo

  • I don't think we have anything planned for this weekend. I'll probably just keep working on getting ahead on school work in case the baby decides to appear next week.

  • I have a long list of stuff for my Target trip.  I also need to hit Joann's so I can get supplies for our masquerade masks and some homemade elastic headbands that DD1 wants.

Tomorrow I have to drop Son at practice by 8:30 and then head to Little League sign up for the girls.  Nothing much is planned for the rest of the weekend.

I need to file our state taxes.  I did our Federal taxes earlier this week.
  • Not much. I do have a date tonight.:)

Y'all know I don't start sharing anymore until I have at leave 6 under my belt. You know men tend to enter the witness protection program around date 3. Ha.

I will say that he's nice. Keep you posted ladies.

  • Nothing planned.  We've got a gift certificate to a coffee shop I've been wanting to check out, so we might do that.  I'm so tired of snow, it can aaaallll melt anytime.  Except that we're supposed to get ice at some point (predictions vary) so, we might be stuck inside again.
  • @6fsn, what is a blizzard bag?

    @NOLA, squee!

DD was on 2 hr delay again.  I really thought I hated the MLP Rainbow Rocks soundtrack, but singing it with her in the car has given me a newfound appreciation for it.

It was 6 degrees when I woke up this morning.  Fahrenheit.  Not 16 or 26, just plain 6.  Oy.
  • We have a couple of babysitter interviews tomorrow. Tomorrow night is birthday dinner with one of my best friends. I'm debating if sushi at 30 weeks is a good idea. I REALLY want it.

Sunday is up in the air at the moment.

It's so cold that going ANYwhere is unappealing.
  • The negative temperatures can suck it.  And having no school can suck it.  DD NEEDS the social interaction and intellectual stimulation, or she gets super hyper.  Ugh.  Plus, this was Phys Ed week for her, and she only had 1 day of school.  She LOVES PE and momma loves it when she has PE.  Now she has to wait 6 weeks to have PE again.  Anyhoo.
We're having a party tonight.  It's French themed, mainly because one of my friends and I decided we wanted French food.  We have baguettes and brie and goat cheese, also we are making crepes - both savory and sweet.  I'M SO EXCITED TO EAT!!!  AND DRINK!!!  Those are really the only aspects of parties that I like, to be honest.  That and it makes me clean my house...
Tomorrow we're seeing half of the Best Picture nominees (we saw the other half last week).
Sunday, hopefully we're going into meat comas.  (Going to the Brazilian steakhouse for DH's bday.)  :)
And then Sunday night is OSCAR NIGHT!  One of my favorite nights of the year and YAY! for NPH hosting this year.  It should be legend-wait-for-it-dary!
  • @Heffalump- The schools build 5 calamity days into the school year.  If they cancel the 6th day they can either tack a day on to the end of the year, add a Saturday, add a day to Spring break OR do the blizzard bag.  Basically the teach posts some work online for the student to do at home.  If they turn in the work it counts as the school being in session that day.  6let's teacher assigned some on-line games and the PE teacher wants them to do the hokey pokey.  He'll have fun and it will take up an hour.

I am a little annoyed that I emailed the teacher for clarification and she hasn't responded.  I get that it's a snow day, but there are a bunch of us that don't know what we're supposed to do.

  • AF, am I reading that corrctly:  does your DD have PE every 6 weeks?

Yes, they have a different "special" each week, and it rotates.  PE, Art, Music, Spanish, Enrichment (still have no idea what Enrichment is - - I think maybe they talk about feelings or something.)  And that's only 5, so maybe it's every 5 weeks.  Or I'm forgetting one.

  • I am excited for the Oscars too!  I can't wait.  I'll be watching, drinking, and FB-ing.
  • Oooh, our specials for 1-5 rotate daily. For K the just have set days.  Tues is art and music, Friday is PE.
  • I will say that I went older this time. 8 years. It took me a minute on that one.:)

But, he wants another kid. He has a 12 year old son. You know I was all like, "we can talk, buddy."

I'm trying not to SQUEE, but I'm totally SQUEEING!  Fingers crossed.
  • Morning. I'm back from my business trip, and I'm tired. I picked up DD around 10:45 pm last night from my parent's and by the time we got home and I got to bed it was 12:30 am. I had a bad night's sleep so I'm thinking I'm going to skip out of work after my noon meeting.

This weekend is resting and hanging out with DD.
