Happy Friday! What's everyone doing this weekend?

I'm so happy to say that we have no plans, because the next few weeks look like this:

2/28 - Best friend's 35th birthday party. Lots of friends coming into town for it too, which will be awesome, but probably exhausting
3/6 - My brother's birthday party that I'm throwing
3/12 - MIL flies in
3/14 - Jack & Jill shower for friends
3/15 - H's step-sister's 40th birthday party
MIL still visiting
3/19 - leave for DR (hooray!)

So needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to being lazy and staying in the house. What is everyone else up to?

  • Tonight I'm frantically cleaning my apartment so that someone who's interested in taking over my lease can come see it. Then tomorrow we're going to the shooting range and then out to lunch/dinner for FI's birthday. Really hoping he likes the gift I got him!

@climbingwife can I come to DR with you??

There is room in my suitcase. I can squeeze you in.
  • I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow, and the rest of the weekend FI and I will be doing some major decluttering around his house.  It is much needed.
    image
  • I'm heading to Chicago with some work friends for dinner and a concert tomorrow. I'm hoping Sunday will be a quiet day, though, since I could really use some decent lounge-around-the-house time.
    image
  • Tonight I'll be assembling invites and stuffing the envelopes because I picked them up from the calligrapher yesterday!  On Saturday I'm meeting with my mom to go over some wedding stuff, and on Sunday, I have my makeup trial, and will go hang out with my grandma.  Fun, low-key weekend.

Meanwhile, FI has his bachelor party this weekend, so he will be the opposite of low key.  He's doing tonight in DC, and tomorrow night in Philly.  I really really hope his night in Philly doesn't get snowed out!

  • Tonight we are going to the Blackhawks game!!! I hope it's not much of a late night but I think we'll be home around midnight... :-/

We have to be up early-ish because we have two cake tastings in WI- yum! We are also going to try and hit a jeweler in the afternoon to look at wedding bands.

Sunday the fiance has to work and I will probably be playing catch up on chores and errands since tonight and tomorrow are a bust. Or I might just nap; you never know.
  • It is too cold for me to even be excited it is Friday right now! Kidding.

We don't have ANY plans which means chicken pie and vegetable beef soup this weekend!

I'm hoping it will warm up enough for our landlord to come fix our drains in the bathroom. The shower and sink won't drain, like at all, and our landlord came and fixed it the other night but then it stopped working that same night. We've been taking showers at my dad's (which is a mile down the road)  but his pipes froze last night soooo....

  • We were -17 this morning and I am not cut out for this. I'm still thawing out.

We're under another winter storm warning until tomorrow afternoon, so I am picking up more wine and snacks after work.

That's my weekend. Trying not to freeze while drinking and eating. I may do some organizing. I need to have a shredding party with old documents.

  • Geez - you've got a busy month coming up!

Saturday we're going to a friend's 30th bday in a city a few hours away. Can't wait - great group of people!

Tonight we'll probably just chill. Sunday we have a bunch of projects around the house that need to be finished up. We have both gotten into a bad habit of starting something and not finishing it. Why does that happen? Anyway, we'll try to knock some of that stuff out.

Same here, which is why we are decluttering ALL THE STUFF this weekend. :)

  • That sounds like an awesome month coming up! I love having a bunch of stuff to look forward to.

I just got back from Florida earlier this week, but of course I got sick the day after I got back. I'm hoping to continue resting up this weekend so that I can be fully better soon, ugh. Although it's absolutely freezing outside so I feel like I'd be on the couch with Netflix regardless.

  • I was supposed to go watch a friend who plays in a band, but it's been cancelled, so no plans. I'm home from school again, so what was supposed to be a 3-day weekend last weekend has turned into a 9-day one!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Tonight - retail therapy or something similar bc I need a mental break.  Probably just catch up on DVR or watch a Netflix movie (Lucy ??).  Whatever we don't watch tonight will be done tomorrow I'm sure

Saturday - hoping to get in a good run but depends on snow/sleet situation.  Doing lunch or dinner at a restaurant we like and have a Groupon that is about to expire

Sunday - cupcake tasting and then might hit a local bridal show to see if we can get a better deal on DJ that way since we just got a couple of quotes.

  • Tonight I'll probably take my after work nap.  After that I'll do some cleaning and laundry.

Tomorrow we have Bob's coming to look at our mattress and couch and then tomorrow night we're going to a Devil's game.  Haven't been to a hockey game all season.  Happy Valentine's Day to me!

Sunday we're going to my parents for dinner.  Gravy and meatballs.  Before dinner we might go and register for our little GIRL!  Last night we went and got some paint samples so we have to try them out in her nursery.

climbingwife stick me in your suitcase too pleaseeeeeee!!!!

  • Tonight I am going to dinner with my brother, which I am looking forward to.

Tomorrow my friends from college are coming to stay with me and see our new house for the first time. They all live in the city so they want to do "suburb" things so we are going to the Olive Garden for dinner. I find it really funny.

Sunday I have a baby shower to go to and then I am going into the city for our annual Oscar party! I am super excited for it.

  • I am taking my girls out to brunch on Saturday- mimosas!- and then we're going to look at bridesmaids dresses...  hoping to scratch this one off the list.

FI is going climbing, so I'm solo this weekend after Saturday afternoon. I'm thinking of staying in and enjoying my newly QUIET apartment! :)

    Have a great weekend everyone
  • It's my birthday on Sunday. We're going to spend it up in Flagstaff with friends. Although it seems crazy to me now to leave this beautiful 80 degree weather for 50 degree weather in Flag. When we planned the trip, we were thinking there may be snow. Nope!

This evening before we leave, we're finding out the baby's sex! and making it Facebook official :D I cannot wait to know!

  • Nothing tonight, but tomorrow my friend wants to go to that Ice Bar (which I went to in December when my BM was in town when she wantef to go) for her bday. Why anyone wants o go to the freaking ice bar in the middle of this shit we're in is beyond me. We can just get a bottle, drink it on the street corner and get the same experience for way less money. As you can tell I'm cranky about that. Other than that, it'll be a low key weekend. I'll probably just kickbox during the day tomorrow.

  • OMG so busy.

I get home at 6 tonight. 6:05 my friend is dropping off her kids for me to babysit overnight.
She'll pick them up at noon, and we'll leave for H's grandparents' house so he can install some safety bars in their shower.
Tomorrow night I'm supposed to go to some bar where some band is playing, to meet a friend's new BF.
Sunday we're going to look at houses!!! Then people are coming over for a "food prep party" - we're assembling freezer meals and then trading between each other.

  • We're supposed to get a snow storm (and by storm, the oh-so-smart weather pros mean "anywhere between 7 and 30 inches) so depending on how it pans out, we'll likely be hunkering down doing lazy stuff while trying to stay warm. We just started watching House of Cards so hopefully we can make it through that.

@Lyndausvi - are y'all slated to get anything good up the hill?

  • That sounds like a nightmare to me. I hate having crap planned on all my weekends. I feel like I have to constantly be "on."

Thankfully this weekend is not packed to the gills. I just have some errands to run tonight, and then nothing going for tomorrow or Sunday.

I think FI and I may need to go to his parents' maybe next weekend or the next for wedding stuff. I feel like I'm putting carts before horses on a lot of things, and it's bothering me.

Not like this. We've done Dream Dinners before, but not on our own. We normally do "soup swaps" where everyone brings 12 cups of soup, we all sample all of them (along with lots of wine, cheese, and bread), then everyone chooses 5 to take home 2-cup servings of. Just switching it up for crock pot meals now. Everyone will bring enough ingredients to make 6 identical freezer meals, I'll provide all the Ziplock freezer bags, various chopping and mixing implements, etc, then everyone trades and takes 6 different meals home.

Thank goodness. It's too cold here and I need a vacation.

@sbmini I didn't know you were expecting! Congratulations!

  • My parents are driving up to visit us this weekend. Which is super nice of them. We were down visiting over Christmas and when they found out that we wouldn't be back down until April (its a 15 hour round trip) they insisted on coming up for a weekend.

I love my parents but I always get a little panicky when they come, its such a long drive, its winter, and our highway can get pretty treacherous. So I'm going to spend most of work today being anxious about their safety. And then I'm always worried about playing good hostess, having enough food, entertainment, making sure the house is clean up to my mothers standards.

So, im looking forward to seeing them for the weekend, but also glad its just for the weekend.

That is neat.  I'm going to have to sign up the next time it's offered here.

  • I'm going for cocktails and to see my old music buddies' concert tomorrow, which I'm pretty excited about. Not for the music (it's going to be a weird one...) but to see my girlfriends beforehand.

Sunday I think we're going to the fancy French bakery to celebrate that my boobs fit in my wedding dress finally (so it's time to start eating so they don't again? Haha.) I should still lose a few insurance pounds but MY DRESS FITS PROPERLY AND WON'T HORRIFY MY MOTHER IN LAW AND I'M GOING TO EAT PAIN AU CHOCOLAT NOW.

Yesterday night, we went to an "adults night" at the local World of Science, which is one of those learning-type "museums" popular with kids, but it was 18+ only, there was a DJ and a bar and you could paint glow-in-the-dark dishes of E.Coli and try out virtual reality headsets and play with all the exhibits, and it was a ton of fun.
