They actually don't teach about the Nazi regime in some of Asian countries so you see weird things like this pop up.  There was actually a really crazy article on Cracked about it recently.

Most of these are awful (my jaw dropped for at the Nazi themed one). But not going to lie, I like the gamer sign held up by the officiant (would probably change the wording to "get married" though). I think little touches like that are okay as long as you don't go overboard like some of the other ones did.

Oh, yeah, some of these weren't my style, but I wouldn't necessarily call them "horrible."  However, what the hell was it with some of those creepy clown ones?  Why????

I did too. I think it is a nice little touch to reflect them and add a bit of their personality to the day. FI and I are engineers and met in a programming class, so our STD's will have binary on them, and I found some cute (IMO) science themed welcome bags, but that is probably as far as we will go with anything nerdy. Otherwise we plan to have a very traditional ceremony and reception, and I think that's a good way to do it.

I have to nerd-out for a second here.  I've never been big on Star Trek, but isn't it the running theme that the crew in the red shirts are the ones to get killed off?  In the Star Trek one, why is the bride wearing a red shirt dress?!

I have to nerd out even more, so sorry in advance. One of the main female characters on the original series wears a red dress, and (to my knowledge) was not killed off. It was always the men wearing red shirts that were killed off.

I liked the gamer one, was pretty distracted by the speedo one, and WTF about those oompa loompas? I hate when people hire little people like they're circus freaks.

And the Ensign Ricky thing only applied to men.

Uhura wore red and certainly didn't die. From what I can recall (TOS was never my favorite series), you are correct that dudes in red shirts were the most likely to get killed. 24/55 deaths in TOS wore red shirts with the others being split between gold, blue, and unknown.

I watch star trek every day but have never heard/ noticed red uniforms being killed off more often (though I have never seen the original series, bc fuck you James T Kirk). In TNG and any movie or seires after red=command blue=medical/counselor and yellow=engineering. My guess she's probably wearing a red shirt bc Uhura wore red? That or she sees herself as a captain/ first officer? Personally I would have gone with blue.

I can see it now: seating arrangements based on factions, the color palette is royal blue, grey, orange, white, and black, bird motifs everywhere . . .

Lawd help us all if "teen dystopian novels" becomes a trendy wedding theme. You never see "Brave New World" or "1984" or "Fahrenheit 451" weddings, and there's a reason for that.

I get light themes like "winter wonderland" or "vintage" or colors, but these full out costumed ones I never quite get. I am actually someone who loves dressing up, loves themed parties, Renaissance Fairs, Comic Cons, Halloween, etc... But the idea of doing it for a wedding puzzles me. The last thing I want to associate with my wedding and vows is the idea that any part of it is make believe. I don't want to kind of in my head be pretending I'm Zelda marrying Link, or Lea marrying Han, or saying my vows in Klingon or anything like that. I don't want to imagine I'm in a movie or book.

When I was married I wanted to be fully aware of my husband, myself, and being present in the moment. It was real, the vows were real, the theme was wedding!  And again, this is comming from soemone who as an adult still loves to find excuses to dress in costumes. It is certainly a part of me but... Not for my wedding...

The red shirt thing only applies to TOS, I wasn't really a fan of the series but I get a real kick out of the movies. Of course, I'm a TNG girl all the way. Patrick Stewart is on my hall pass list!
