How is your Saturday?

What are you all doing tonight? My FMIL came over from Tokyo to visit FSIL for a couple of weeks. It became an unexpected girls night with my sisters hanging out. My FMIL bought a new blender and is on a Margarita making binge. She is making them and they are nonstop. :)

Re: How is your Saturday?

  • It's ok. I finished my homework, working on a glass of wine (it's my first, but I think I'd like to get a little crazy and go for two tonight. And I may or may not plan on utilizing my buzzed state to seduce DH in a totally absurd manner.), and DH is cooking pork chops for dinner.

    Also I'm still in pajamas.

So overall it's a very successful Saturday.
  • We both ran late morning and have been lazy ever since. We're going to watch a movie but never got around to starting it and I want to go to bed early. It's snowing now so glad we decided not to go out with friends tonight.

Did get some registry coupons for target for 15% off so might strategically place some stuff on the registry for completion type thing.
  • That sounds like a great Saturday! FH and I did some wedding stuff at a few craft stores Then we got dinner. We somehow wound up at PF Changs. I'm stuffed. Now we're headed to Target and then may go out to a bar afterwards.

  • I could really go for a margarita.

DH is in TX for the next few weeks, so I'm on my own. I did a whole lot of nothing today. Well, I did go to the grocery store and started to do some cleaning, but I also napped and watched a lot of TV. I needed the down time, so it was nice.

Are you on your own the whole time or does he come back some?
  • Uneventful.   We went to the grocery store, cleaned, took a nap, wanted a lot of HGTV.

Like always DH is working.  Oddly, they are really busy.  We were going to go skiing, but DH is WAY busier then expected.  He was told he would do about 10 dinners a night.  MAYBE peaking to 20 once in a while.   Every night they have been open it's been 50.   DH's temporary kitchen is just not that big, so we cancelled skiing because he had to go in early to prep food.

We plan on going skiing tomorrow.   About a foot of powder just dumped on us the last few days.  Should be a good day.

I've been meaning to go there but I always had Panda Express. How do you like P.F's?

He was here for a week a week ago. He's not coming back until late March, but I'm going to visit him in two weeks.

This isn't forever, but it's normal for us. We've spent the majority of our relationship apart due to work.

  • I'm jealous of all you peeps with alcohol.

It was a good day. FI worked for the first time in a while, but I went grocery shopping (ish) and bummed around. I should have done laundry but ... ehhh.... I have tomorrow. I did make homemade spaghetti sauce though! I want to try and make pasta one day.

  • Better than Friday!
I'll probably sound like a grumpy old lady, but frikking awful three days. For mysterious reasons, the tendinitis and carpal tunnel in my left arm (what the hell? How? Why the left?) flared up out of control to new and sick making heights of misery. Like only 4 hours of sleep between Wednesday and Thursday. Couldn't lay down, couldn't sit up, miserable whimpering searing pain, packing my arm in ice packs and the splints and tendon bands are rubbing my skin raw and just frikking miserably hurt and unhappy.
Finally got in to be seen Friday, dosed up with anti inflammitorys  and pain pills.

Moosey has been in charge of housekeeping and cooking. Good thing I'm tranquillized, or the state of the kitchen would make me cry. I can't deal with not doing things. I'm not a good patient. Bitch bitch bitch.

Thank you for coming to my pity party.

But yay, Saturday! I finally got seven hours of sleep! Slight improvement in the pain levels and mood, and when all is said and done, some days are better than none. I'm watching lots of documentaries.
  • I went boxing earlierR. We are at FMIl's. I'm not supposed to be drinking because of my current diet. But my diet is Paleo. And the cavemen probably didn't things with fermented grapes. And I'm at FMILs. So I'm on my 4th glass of wine....

Watch out, we are a wild pair.

    What are you making?
My FMIL showed me how to make some sushi.  I taught her how to make Persian stew and Baklava.

  • @AlexisA01 , we do this every Sunday, we pick three dishes and soend the day cooking forvthe week. We divide it up into single serving Tupperware and eat it for lunch and dinner. It's great because we always have food for lunch, and neither of us has to cook dinner during a weekday after a long day at work.

This week is roast chicken with mash potatoes and green beans, I also made an amazing country gravy from the drippings.

Baked spaghetti and meatballs, i go all out with the marinara sauce and use fresh tomatoes and herbs. Meatballs also have fresh herbs and pan seared and slow simmered in the sauce.

Roasted chicken and veggie tacos (peppers we roasted, carrots and broccoli )

We have a huge list of recipes we rotate through and meal plan based on what we are craving that week. Grant ot, this werk is a little heavier than we normally we do but we bith eat so much better and save a lot on groceries because we hit the store together and split the bill. And the grab and go single servings make life much easier.

Last week it was lasagna; quinoa, kale and chicken salad with fresh veg and dijon vinaigrette and stir fry with lots of veg. BF makes a stir fry sauce that can't be beat.

I never done that. That is something we should try. Usually FI does all the cooking and he LOVES Italian food..

  • I highly recommend it, during the week when you're tired from work you can still have a home cooked meal. BF loves it because it has helped improve his cooking skills.

  • Any recipes you recommend?
